A Hi Fi Show in Denver . . . or is it just going to be a HIGH show?

So aside from all of the glitter of the new product launches, the booth babes & typical show glitter, this year’s CEDIA show will be the 1st for the Hi Fi industry in Colorado since legalization. And even though this is Cedia, which is the custom end of the CE industry – so more serious than the freaky High-End crew who will be in town in October for the Rocky Mtn show – it should be interesting to watch.

According to the map, I have 2 pot shops within a couple of blocks. Hmmmm. Should I partake? I can’t smoke in my hotel room without a $250 cleaning bill. I am sure that smoking pot in the street is frowned on by the police. Going to a lounge would probably just be creepy. Maybe edibles? I don’t know but back in the day whenever I ate edibles, it didn’t go well. Uncontrolled high & sick. That wasn’t much fun. Vaping? I don’t know, I have never tried it. Drinks? Decisions, decisions . . .

Anyways, it should be fun to observe. Last year we took a buyer out for sushi – a major buyer for an online store you probably all know – and he was positively flamed when he arrived. And that was before legalization.

Too bad it’s in Dallas for the next 2 years after this . . .

Ian

I don't have any first-hand experience,

But that vape stuff is everywhere, mostly since it's quite hard to distinguish the nicotine vape stuff from the pot. You can be discrete, you can avoid your hotel smoking charge, and you can get that kind of instant feedback that the edibles cannot give you.

Now, if you would rather get some wine and some fancy food, let me know!

Vape? I guess that's like the e-cigs, right? Comes in a liquid form, load it up and puff away?

That opens the door if you can buy it in liquid form. Might want to get some syringes and go nuts.

Ian from my experience in Denver, they were toking it up in public no problem. We went to red rocks for the BHT show and it was everywhere...

Oh for heck sake. Buy A) Some nice Sativa dominant MJ B) A lighter C) An inexpensive glass pipe. Stuff some in the pipe, and have a smoke while walking down a quiet street. No one cares.

How is Friday? I arrive Monday & by Thursday/Friday I might be able to break free. I will email you. (It was the wine that got me )

A pipe on the street? I don't know . . . it sounds so . . . juvenile. That's what I did a thousand years ago.

Ian, a lounge shouldn't be that much different than the coffee shops of Amsterdam. I never felt uncomfortable there, but then again, after that first hit, how can you. Even the last morning, when we stopped by a coffee shop on the way to the airport - it was two doors down from a police station. That was weird!

I suspect that would have been the case regardless of legalization. It's hard to go to most concerts, especially outdoors, without at least getting a contact high.

What is this "lounge" thing you speak of?

Marijuana Social Lounges

It looks like they are trying to appeal to the pot tourist trade.

Go to a lounge.
Rent a vapourizer.
Go easy.
The newer strains are supposed to be very powerful.
And legal.
Let us know how it works out.

I will. My latest thought is to have a pot party in my suite for our crew on the last night. It will be our after-hours bar room for the week anyway & I can just get everyone to chip in to pay the fee. We can order pizza & wings & have a blast. A good plan, I think & it could be an interesting time with our international partners.

So I slunk down to Euflora on the 16th St Mall. I know it is legal but I still felt like a degenerate going in. A friendly guy checked my ID at the door - I am almost old enough to be his grandfather but it is mandatory. There were pot stations around the store with iPads describing the strain of pot & small mason jar samples so you can check out the product. No smoking is allowed in the store. Edibles & drinks were in glass cases & the vap gear was hanging on the wall. One of the 2 lackadaisical female employes explained vaping - which involves a pen-like heater affair with a USB charger. You can buy vaporizers that take 'product' - waxes, oils, crumble etc or ones that take a cartridge of extract. $21 - $24. You have to choose your cartridge of poison: sativa, indica or hybrid strains are available. She explained that sativa gives you the energy bounce, indica gives you a mellow & the hybrid for all-inclusive. I chose a hybrid - $36 for 150mg. The only other customers were a pair of stoners who were sniffing their way around the room. As I paid, the clerk - the most energetic of the 2 girls - did a really mild pitch on their pre-rolled blunt special of the day. A strange experience to say the least.

Let's just say that it worked & it is virtually stealth with the eventually output only a near odorless white smoke that dissipates instantly. So if you are the inquisitive sort of person & you find yourself with free time in CO, put on a disguise & relive your youth. Legally.

Now I can say btdt.

Ian

I'm more interested in your overall trip and if you think the world's coming to and end or if you see any dogs and cats living together.

Of course, it's difficult to get an accurate assessment on the 16th street mall.

Festive.

From what I understand, the oil/wax is *very* potent and require one pay attention. Puts the hash oil from back in the day to shame. Edibles are also something to be careful with as it is difficult to figure out dosing. There is no standard. Plain old bud - it is potent these days but easier to manage.

So how are the cheetos there?

So strange to see pot openly sold/consumed when it is still a Federal Schedule 1 substance . . . the DEA classification really needs to be changed, it is a total relic.

Yeah, but that's a "job killer." So . . . . It stays.
