I built an RC glider once, got pretty good at it. so I built a cessna with 4' wingspan. Took months. All hand cut balsa and covered in paper and dope, real old school.

Lasted bout 40 seconds. So I said, hey those RC cars are pretty cool .....

Anyway you might like this:

My daughter soloed her Apprentice before her fifth birthday. They are excellent trainers.

Thanks. It would be for myself and two kids, 5 and 12. I have flown the T28 so I don't think it will be an issue for me, but I hate not sharing with the kids.

T28 is a great trainer even though it is low wing but the Apprentice is good too.

The A3X or whatever is good stuff - I'm not sure of the SAFE stuff though - haven't used it. In my experience it is more frustrating than anything else but I only have experience with Futaba's thing they had on the Nexstar which I promptly removed.

Local clubs are your best bet here.

Try advertising on RCgroups.com or RCUniverse.com. The listings are free and you can say 'local pickup only'.

I've done it very often and it works good but don't expect to get what your Dad thinks it is worth.

The AS3X is more of a FBW/gyro stabilization from what I can tell. Makes them fly smoother. I know that isn't a good analogy but that is how I think of them. SAFE has a panic button and flight envelope protection making it difficult to crash hard. On the fence about RTF and BNF. BNF I can pair a much better radio for future use. I may not need a better radio for future use.

Really?
I think what he is asking is barely more than the cost of the engine alone.

I didn't really look at the price you had on there - I just meant not to expect to get what you paid for the whole thing. A lot of times when I go to sell something it's more an effort in blowing it out to create space than selling it to even cover the original cost of it.

Used RC stuff is not a money maker...

What you have it listed for seems reasonable to me, especially from a blowing it out perspective.

You may even be able to get more out of it. On RCuniverse - their ads allow for offers to be made lower than what you're asking and you can put a low ball shield in there. RCgroups is a more a traditional simple listing like your flyer. It'll get you exposure to a wider area and a wider local area too because a lot of RC folks use those websites.

Also the local clubs usually have listings or will list in their monthly newsletters for free. The RCGroups and RCuniverse though I have had a ton of luck with and are very popular with the community for buying, selling and trading much like Pelican is for us.

The apprentice has a DX5 with a three position switch. you can turn off the "auto pilot" feature. The other two positions are like beginning beginner and intermediate beginner. It is pretty aerobatic with the switch off, very fun airplane.

I see they have a few different airframes with the tech, but I don't think a EDF would be a good trainer. Not sure anyone would have time to hit the panic button, but it is probably good for someone getting into EDF airframes.

I saw it had three different "laws" to quote Airbus as to what it will allow you to do. Beginner is limited in bank and pitch. I have seen video where people pull the throttle and hold the panic button to land relatively drama free. Our nearly 5 year old can fly the RC tethered planes and land them OK.

He was just over to my house today and says he is even thinking about just parting it out so that he does not have to ship the airplane and worry about damages en-route. He would probably sell the engine for $800 and call it a day (~$100 below advertised price at Chief Aircraft).

Hangar 9 sells the Extra 330 with the Zenoah GT80 for over $1600.

I'll send him an email with the links you provided, Mike.
Thanks!

A little dawn patrol action with my F-86 this morning.

Also, I picked up one of those SAFE planes - the Delta Ray and it is pretty cool the way it works. I put a couple of test flights on it today prior to putting my boys on it but I think it is going to work very well for them.

Not as exciting as some of the stuff here, but I just snagged a seriously tweaked Axial ax10
I'm gonna tie balloons off to it and use it as a moving shooting target platform.....and I might destroy the golf course with it on occasion as well
