Does somebody at Chrysler owe me a beer?
Back in June, I made a video to show a quick comparison between my 42-year-old 911 and the latest supercar offering from Porsche.
![]() Click on the image to see the video. More recently, the boys at Dodge had to choose a way to showcase their new 707-hp Hellcat Challenger. Personally, I think they made a solid choice: ![]() Click on the image to see the video. Now, I approve of the Hellcat wholeheartedly. But maybe someone at their ad agency got a little help from my YouTube page? Or maybe great minds just think alike.

Well of course they owe you a beer. Maybe a case or two!

The first car video needs 155s on the back. Sliding sideways at 35mph.

I don't get it, why would they owe you a beer? I see no similarities at all.
Jack Olsen and BB2, the legends. Larger than life. Ever heard of Paul Bunyon and the Big Blue Ox? Yeah, like that but crossed with Steve McQueen. How'd that old Gatorade commercial go? "I wanna be like Jack?"

Chrysler my ass, I owe you at least a six pack just for the garage thread, what do you drink, or should I just use my best judgment? Trekkor likes Spaten Pils if I remember right. If I was not busy tomorrow, I would be taking him a few and burning up what is left of my tires over at Sears Point.

There are similarities... But I suppose then it raises the question of how many beers would you owe Motley Crue, or oddly enough, Kia...?

There's not as many similarities as you think, because Dodge probably paid for their use of the song.

You both got your musical inspiration from Gran Turismo.
Send those beers to Japan. |

It's true that all beers are ultimately due to Nikki Sixx, who wrote such an awesome and infectious song. (And got the lyrical content from literally dying in a hotel room -- which is more than I'd be willing to do for just about anything.) However, he's 13 years sober now. So nobody send him anything.
The Chrysler ad showed up on YouTube two weeks after mine. And while they both open with shiny car shots and then move to a race track in California (I think they shot theirs at Chuckwalla), it's probably not possible that anyone at the ad agency gave mine a thought -- since I'm sure the approval process in that sort of spot is much longer than 14 days. And then the pre-production/prduction/post-production process that follows would also be more than just a couple of weeks. But still. Kind of weird. Thanks for the kind words about my car and garage earning me drinks.

Is Jack's car in Gran Turismo yet?
P.S. Out of respect for the original, I did not put the side stripe on my car, instead going in a different direction as to dilute the beauty of BBII. I thought that creating a BBII2 would deserve a keg at least!

Great video Jack. In spite of how much I like the old air cooled Porsches, I am still very surprised by what you just did. Impressive!

I'd say at least a bottle or two of wine for my enjoyment...

Forget that. A little CGI Dean/McQueen/Redfords face, and most would probably not know the difference.
