I could have been in one of those if there was a camera around. We were drilling soil borings for a seismic retrofit job for a water department. The rep from the water dept told me where to drill so we would be sure to miss their 48-inch high pressure water main. Sure enough, we hit it. 30 foot geyser, drill rig in rapidly growing sink hole, no water for entire town for days. Good times.

Then there was the time we tried to get a drill rig onto a barge that wasn't tied to shore securely enough. The oil slick in the pristine water-supply lake made that evening's news, to be sure.

Don't look at me. I'm just the dumb geologist.
