There Are No Such Things As Black Holes

the scenario suggested by Mersini-Houghton is briefly explained. Basically, when a massive star reaches the end of its life and collapses under its own gravity after blasting its outer layers into space — which is commonly thought to result in an ultra-dense point called a singularity surrounded by a light- and energy-trapping event horizon — it undergoes a period of intense outgoing radiation (the sort of which was famously deduced by Stephen Hawking.) This release of radiation is enough, Mersini-Houghton has calculated, to cause the collapsing star to lose too much mass to allow a singularity to form. No singularity means no event horizon… and no black hole.

Like any movie is even partially accurate.

Virtually every movie I have seen has some glaring not accurate plot points. That is why it is just a movie. Tires screeching in the snow, no one ever seems to close a front door, the list is endless.

So 'red-beard', back to the central idea of this topic as to the possibility (as posed by this scientist) of black holes being a non-existent entity. I am interested in the explanation she may have offer up to explain or define the nature of whatever it is, if not a black hole, that resides at our galactic core. The current wisdom held by a number of astrophysicists is black holes are at the centre of most known observable galaxies.
All in all, the cool thing about theoretical physics & this holds for any real science, new observations & theories, controversial or otherwise, generate further thought, more research, & expand our knowledge of the subject at hand. Cool stuff. Thanks for posting.

She isn't saying that large globs of matter don't exist, but that before it would become a singularity, it would boil off matter as energy, preventing the creation of a singularity.

This could explain the big bang. If the universe expands, then contracts, as it crushes together, it reconverts matter into energy, exploding itself apart. Lather-rinse-repeat
