No. I don't have to admit that.

Middle class black folks should not be treated like gang members simply because of the color of their skin.

There was ZERO justification for that shooting. Zero.

I find it amazing the cop was fired. Like Denis said.....what if there was no video?

Maybe one day dogs who are shot by cops will also see some justice...one can only hope....

osidak 09-25-2014 06:09 PM

That cop needs to spend a long time in federal "pound me in the ass" prison

ThomO 09-25-2014 07:31 PM

Don't worry the police union will have him back on the job with full back pay. Well at least that is how it works for the Denver pd and sheriff's dept.

Not all cops are bad but there sure are allot of them.

Body cams are the only protection for both the public and the officers.

Yep, no question. I'm not making excuses for the cop. Just saying it's always best to keep hands visible and sudden movements to a minimum. NOT doing that shouldn't get you shot, but at the minimum it's going to make the cop nervous.

I'm guessing this film will be shown in training police training classes for years to come.

Hope the guy recovers completely and never has to work ever again.

physically, from what I've heard, he'll be fine...no significant damage thankfully.

My only problem with his case is with his lawyer, not him or his claim. His attorney is a State Rep......I have a serious problem with a State Rep. suing the State...

City streets or rural country, both cops and citizens are more on the edge today then ever before.

And now small town USA with Wannabe GI Joe cops are over the top, demanding more military type toys. Yet Mommy and Daddy taking their children for a day at the range.... and not just any range.... lets have fun with a machine gun.

Feel really bad for the victim but c'mon folks, you've got to be respectful but wisely, expect the worst, moronic cop. Think about what a cop might do, the what ifs. Not defending the cop whatsoever but they do expect bad situations or anticipate surprises.

Lastly- curious what the facts are about the seatbelt violation. Probably completely innocent on that too. Highly probable the cop was racial profiling. BTW: Hope the union board doesn't go to bat for that cop and he gets the max.

COLUMBIA, SC: Lawyer: Trooper in Columbia shooting might have PTSD | Crime | The State

speeder 09-25-2014 08:34 PM

The guy was yelling, "I had my seatbelt on!"

Total Joe citizen, Mr. taxpayer from the looks of it. Man is he ever lucky if not seriously injured, it's so easy to die from a gunshot, much less 4. The cop is a lunatic. I realize that it's a tough job and they constantly need new blood, young people to sign-up and they can't all be awesome but wow do they get a lot of dangerous incompetence.

Years ago a moto riding buddy was a County Sheriff Deputy - told me that he likes to see both hands on top of the steering wheel as he approaches.
From then on, I always did.

"The cop seems off...... there's something more to his story."

I picked up on that, too.

I am sad to agree with this. Imagine what it's like for foreigners who have no idea how easy it is to get shot by police here. Why the hell should anyone without a weapon in their hand have to fear getting shot by an agent of the state?

I was thinking this exactly. The whole interaction with the police is so much different in europe. It makes me doubt visiting the US for holidays (that on top of the tsa hassles and less than friendly immigration officers)

I was just in Germany and Austria two weeks ago and stayed at two different cops' houses. This BS is so unimaginable to them. And they are at least as well-armed as our cops. Sure, they don't have to worry about every person they contact being armed. But lots of unarmed folks get shot by cops in the US. I doubt it happens in Europe too much.

Shoots like a gangbanger...but w/ a thousand rounds thru his piece

Yeah it's weird. Looked to me that as the video starts there is a pick up pulling away from the cop as if the officer had just finished writing that guy citation.

The cop starts to leave the lot and pauses at the driveway then backs up.

I can only assume he spotted the victim in his rear view mirror and the guy very well may have had his seat belt on just before that.

As far as the victims movements, he reminds me of my brother.

My brother also moves in a very animated manner like that, he stops, thinks, then moves purposely and rapidly. He's 52 and I've never known him to move any differently and at this point I don't think he could even if he made a conscious effort to not move that way.

Would suck for him to get shot just for being who he is.

sand_man 09-26-2014 04:09 AM

SHEEESH! Glad none of those missed shots ended up into the body of another innocent bystander pumping gas, or walking up to the store, or standing in the store.

Interesting.
I wonder which of the 3 countries has more crime per capita...America, Germany, or Austria.
