When I was a teenager a cop friend of mine told me that when I get pulled over do NOT ever make sudden movements. Don't ever reach in the glove box, under the seat or grab for something the cop can't see. Keep both hand on top of the steering wheel and answer yes sir or no sir.

I have the advantage of being a old white guy and I still follow that advice.

None of that excuses this cop for shooting the guy. It must be a tough thing for any cop to know that some people do intend to shoot their way out of any encounter. I don't know how they deal with it. I could never be a cop. I likely would have shot the guy as well and that is why I don't want to be a cop.

I wonder which of the 3 countries has more crime per capita...America, Germany, or Austria.

A quick google says our murder rate is 4X Germany and Austria.

North America is likewise over 4X that of Western Europe.

I'm thinking that if it's so much higher here in America, wouldn't it be wise for a citizenry to arm themselves against that?

Political correctness forbids people from even talking about the real cause of the problem.....it's much easier to blame an inanimate object.

Subject all apologetic.

Not so the cop.

What a POS.

And they wonder why people run from them. At a minimum you get thrown in the dirt and humiliated. At the maximum, this...
I have no respect at all for cops. They have no respect for me, so turnabout is fair play.

It was a bad stop. Officer botched it from the word go.

If he was afraid of a gun in the car his first instruction should have been, "Sir can I ask you to step away from the car"

Given that, I withdraw my sensible argument. :)

Too many bad guys getting out of jail. Last time a violent crime was reported....did you notice they were REPEAT offenders? Some of these scum bags have a rap sheet a MILE long. No wonder law enforcement (and the public) feel like they are under siege.

I'm not excusing this cop from his actions.

But.....our criminal justice system is not processing violent offenders very well, IMHO.

Bad guys need to go away for a long long long long time....

Shaun @ Tru6 09-26-2014 05:25 AM

Bad guys need to be not created in the first place.

Existing bad guys need to be rehabilitated.

Cops don't even carry guns over here..

Woman arrested for possessing spoon covered with dried Spaghettios | Police State USA

I hope some pitbull lawyer can turn the tables for this poor woman victim. Only 23 years old and almost destroying her future by plea bargain. EF the Pub-D too! He's acting as if its such a shame but where's his spine? What kind of a bobo county operation is this? This is where I'm all in favor of massive awards to victims and it hits the taxpayers. In time, the people will say enough is enough and slam the doors on police state lunacy.

that'll be the basis of his defense.

Cops, are not what they used to be.
They are turning out to be a scared bunch of morons .
If they can not accept the "risk" they should not accept the job.

+100
Sounds like something out of our 1969 drug induced "make love not war" wishful thinking.
Lets sue the company that built those bad guys until they recall every last one and fix them.

Yes it will.....not to come to his defense, but the manner in which we treat officers post-shooting in this state is pretty archaic. You're better of trying to get legit love from the VA for PTSD....
