How to dispose of dead skunks

Been trapping skunks and running out of places to dispose of the critters.

I used to put them in a dumpster by the community pool but got busted and received a very stern nasty letter for the HOA.

I'd been storing last weeks catch, about 5 of them in an old Sears rooftop cargo carrier we had by the driveway.

So we have a garage sale over the weekend and I notice some guy checking it out.

We start talking an he's obviously interested but wants to see inside.

Hmmm, so I go in the house and grab the keys for an old file cabinet I had and bring them back out.

Of course they don't work which was my plan.

I tell the guy screw it he can have it for free, I just want it gone.

Sucker.

What does your HOA suggest?

Apparently Skunks are prolific where you live, at my place in Vermont we have plenty of Skunks... they are usually very timid nocturnal animals, they are crepuscular.. dawn and dusk dwellers...

They apparently try to avoid contact with us..

The only time I see them if is they are rabid.... or have been smushed by a car .

Why not toss the Skunk problem back in the HOA and insist they provide a remedy

Maybe I should have titled it "How to get rid of dead hookers" like I was originally going to but I was worried some NSA bot would not get the joke and a SWAT team would come blasting into my street w/o lights or sirens. No warrant, and no approval from the HOA at 3am, run over my flower beds then kick my door in and shoot my cats.

Yeah... that guy knows where SM lives!

Just think of the surprise waiting for the locksmith.

SM, what's the latest on that guy who was hunting snakes (with a .22?) on the perimeter of your neighborhood?

I had a skunk in the yard, and was afraid I was going to have my dog "playing" with it. I tried to scare it away with my son's BB gun and hit it probably 20 times to no avail. It only circled wondering what was stinging him !

I finally said FcccK it and went and got my Remington 870 and blew him clean out of our yard into the creek bottom. Unfortunately we smelled him for the next coupla weeks.

I served this to my in laws last weekend. I did, however, make a couple of minor changes to the recipe. I did not wash the skunk or remove the scent glands, as I wanted it to be very fragrant. The "scum that rises to the surface" in step 6 was reserved and ladeled over their portions as gravy. I had to make this outside, so it was served cold, but they didn't seem to mind. I served it with a side of compost. I think they liked it, they smiled and said yummy. Thanks for the recipe!

After reading the thread title, I was thinking, "Hold your breath when you put it in the bag and approach from upwind."

A trebuchet would get it far away, but how hard would it be to get the stink off that thing? I am told that moth balls will discourage a skunk from coming around.

Have not heard a peep from him in quite some time.

Either it was getting too expensive for him, he realized the futility of it, or he finally understood that not everyone appreciated his efforts.

How do you poison a skunk. I have one that crosses my yard on its way to my neighbors yard.
I want to poison that sucker so he can return his burrow and die.
