Man, am I lucky!

I put my 87 911 up for sale yesterday, and already got a fantastic response! A guy (or girl, not sure) texted me, and they want to buy it, sight unseen! Cash! Even better, they are in a really big hurry, so they don't have time to check the car out, but they can tell just from reading the ad that they can trust me! The buyer is actually buying it for a friend, so we need to keep this kind of low profile so we don't spoil the surprise--like, we need to put the car in a third party's name.

Here' the best part--to make sure they get the car, the buyer is willing to pay me $5K MORE than the asking price! Whooopie!

All they need is my Paypal account info and we're good to go.

Almost sounds too good to be true!!!!!

Terry

I don't know what they play is. This person asked for my email, which is how Paypal does business. Here's the latest email:

Thanks for the mail. Do you have the extra keys, Do you have the spare tire, Where did you get your car serviced, Have you ever had any transmission repairs and Is there any rust on the vehicle? I'm ready to pay your asking price but not cash in person because I'm currently in a conference and calls are restricted at the moment and my only quickest payment option is PayPal, its safe fast and secure and i will be responsible for the PayPal transaction charges so you can get your expected amount. If you don't have an account with PayPal, its pretty easy to open one,Just log onto www.paypal.com and sign up. I hope we can make the purchase as fast as possible? As I am buying the vehicle for someone and I'm very sure he will love this vehicle, his a mechanic and a handy man, so if there is anything that need to be fixed in it just let me know he will handle it. I have a mover that will come for the pick up once payment clears in your account and he will handle the title for me. I look forward to hear from you with the information below.

Your PayPal e-Mail Address
Full name:
Firm Price:
Zip code for pickup:

Anyone know what they are trying to do here?

A guy I work with put a 50CC scooter on Craig's list. My co-worker put in the ad that he only accepted CASH.

The only person interested was in a hurry and was willing to pay more than the listing. Of course they were a marine biologist on a ship in the Indian ocean and they would send a truck by to pick up the scooter. He would send a PayPal payment. It was for the guys dad.

My co-worker knew it was a scam instantly. His reply was "You are on a ship in the Indian ocean, cool. I am currently on the International Space station and we will be flying over the Indian ocean shortly. Where is your ship, I will take some picture of it for you." He had not yet received a reply.

IF you get paid, it will be from a hacked paypal account. Then they'll rip the money away from you, and leave you high and dry, no money, no car.

Now that's funny.

Randy P, thanks for the link. Have not seen that site but have been to scamorama.com a few years back. It was a crack up.

When I sold my Aston Martin DB4 I got a call from a guy who wanted to buy it for the Prime Minister of Kuwait he offered my selling price of $250K. I told him I was unsure about his legitimacy. He said meet me at your bank on Monday, he showed up with $250K in cash, bank said it was all real money, which it was.

Hugh,

The one and only time I had $250K in cash, I blew it all in a single summer on cars, guitars, and girls.

The rest I wasted.

And my wife insisted on reporting it to the IRS. So I paid them lots of $ in capital gains. Funny thing, I don't recall an IRS agent under the car the countless times I was working on it for 30+ years with anti-freeeze/oil dripping on me in the freezing cold. I don't think the IRS agent ever got skinned knuckles, back aches, or a broken finger or two either.
