Starter & Alternator Rebuild Service?

Does anyone have a recommendation for a good starter and alternator rebuild service? These are both on a Cummins diesel engine I am using for a swap and I'd like them rebuilt so I know they're good. I found Best Battery online but not sure if there is someone that is universally recommended by you folks?

I'm taking mine to Chandler Altstarter tomorrow morning. Sort of need to live near Phoenix to make it worthwhile.

You probably have a few local auto electric shops. Look them up on yelp or ask your local mechanics which shop they recommend. Since alternators and starters are heavy and expensive to ship, it makes sense to me to purchase them and service them locally.

If you are passing thru Honolulu:
Central Pacific Rebuilders - Kalihi - Honolulu, HI | Yelp

or passing thru Renton, WA:
South End Auto New and Used Car Parts For Sale Seattle Washington WA

Done biz with all those places + Allstar above, all excellent.

I just pulled the original starter & alternator out of my 2001 Chevy truck. After 244,000 miles, the brushes & bearings have to be about gone.

Rebuilding both cost $220. That's probably what a tow truck would charge if I got stranded on the road somewhere. The shop said they are seeing more people like me bringing in perfectly functioning units preventively.

I almost broke a three-prong puller, trying to get the fan off last night. The alt. shop in Chandler put it in a shop press and it came off like butter. Very cool, old-school machine shop with rows old wooden shelves and ancient lathes and drill presses, smelled like old grease. They told me I'm looking at $65-70 for the rebuild. So I'm taking the fan and housing to Glendale Powder Coatings to make them shine.
