I finally watched the 2 minute video linked on page one. Everything on it is extremely mild. I suspect she put the worst ones she found in the 10 hours of video, to make her point and all. Only one that I found creepy was the guy who followed her for 5 minutes. Even that one did not look that bad. Given that the video is edited, no way to tell what really happened on that one.

That is a fairly obese, angry looking young woman If I saw her walking down the street, I would ask her if she was okay, because she certainly looked like something had her very upset. I have a tendency to ask people if they are okay if they look like they are not. Other than that, not somebody I would give a second look, or even much of a first look.

It certainly appears that more brown guys chatted her up than white guys. I would attribute that to taste, more than a racial proclivity toward that sort of activity, but who knows, the video is edited. The latino and black guys I know seem to go for the chunky gals with big asses, not me at all. I go for the ones that are a bit more fit, like something that Vinnie posts in the various threads dedicated to that stuff. Champion gymnast, yes, beer belly girl from a rap video, not so much.

No, I am not posting up any pictures or videos of my daughter and yes, she is a lot prettier than the woman in the video, but I am biased.

Their stated goal was to make men look bad. They edited 10 hours to the worst two minutes and this is all they got. Seems somewhat positive to me. In an interview, she said she walks the same streets all the time. Likely some of them knew her or thought they did.

Tobra 11-03-2014 03:19 PM

I always say hello to people I regularly see on my daily walk, always. I guess it is abusive sexual harassment to say, "good morning."

I thought the video would be longer, it was 10 hours of raw video. I wonder how long it took to edit it down to 2 minutes.

That's because Bill Clinton was not in town....

Wouldn't surprise me if some of the men are actors , and parts were staged/scripted.

This video was the product of 'Rob Bliss Creative' - A viral video agency........

Bogus, fabricated video, Inconceivable!

When I said "we", that means every swinging d-ck.

And your right...we are ALL on our own to take responsibility just like my son will when he leaves home and I'm shoveled into my grave.

That can't be real...ask Speeder. It never happens.

You're thinking that was a real, serious video??? Whoa.

They are both a joke. My earlier comments were pertaining to women being harassed in general by creeps, I've obviously offended some creeps here.

oldschoollear 11-03-2014 07:44 PM

Lol no, the first one was absolutely not a joke.

She is fairly average looking, certainly not smoking hot or unusual in any way. Just an "everywoman" the likes of which there are millions in NYC and everywhere else for that matter. The fact that she may be a little overweight might make her appealing to certain, umm...demographics.

Once again, Ryan Gosling or someone like him is not walking around in a Village People costume. That is some weird fantasy for the sake of a strawman argument. Has any woman ever cat-called a dude in the world? Surely it's happened but the differential in strength between men and women completely negates the comparison in terms of possible fear and intimidation for the receiver of said cat-call.

Or do you think that women should really feel flattered and appreciated when some creep yells schit at them on the street?? Some really brave and/or fed-up women tell the guy to fk-off but that carries a great risk. They could be opening themselves up to being assaulted, at least verbally if not physically. Just for walking down the GD street.

But of course it would be no different for your hypothetical dude in no shirt.

yep, your earlier comments had nothing to do with video. got it. proceed.

This is more a story about what you do with a BA in theater from Kutztown University while your peers are at work.

The girl claims to have a black belt...and she clearly had weight on most of the punks that said hello...seems she had nothing to worry about.

If only she had been a white guy:

We just have a different interpretation of the video. I believe you that you'd greet the hot chick because you greet most everyone but I don't think that applies to the guys in this video. There is another type of guy out there, first he pours on the phony saccharin, then when the woman does not play along, he gets nasty in the flip of a switch. I could tell endless stories from a life of having attractive sisters and mother plus a hot GF or two. These guys are nothing like you.

I appreciate that, speeder!

I'm just trying to be a polite, mannered, and pleasant person in an increasingly impolite, ill mannered, bitter and unpleasant world.

I was never any good at cheapass tired pick up lines anyway. I wasn't raised to be that way to anyone.
My father would be very upset if he heard me pipe off with that "$1000" comment. This is what kinda dictates my behavior in such situations, what he would have thought about how I acted to a stranger.

You never know when that stranger may be an angel...
Sorry if I PARFed that up...

Carter

fintstone 11-04-2014 05:41 AM

You do realize that "PARFed it up" is pretty offensive to the guys who post there, don't you? Was that your intent? I am assuming you were not implying that your post was referring to politics or religion.

I want to thank you all for participating in this thread. There is no certain consensus. Its a complex phenomenon.

So, as a summary, on the behalf of all of us primitive creatures (the men), lets be brutally honest and admit that, given the right circumstances, we would all go:

IŽd hit that! :D

certainly- I just wouldn't tolerate one oz of BS from her afterwards.....My way, or the highway. Hit it and quit it.

Sex isn't the hard part. The relationship is- she's not worth the latter.

The only answer is you just don't -

If you say hello to every man woman and child that walks down the street - then, go ahead and say hi - but, 99.9% of people don't do that - so don't pretend this should be different.

If they are strangers to you - don't treat women differently than men - don't treat attractive women differently than plain women - don't treat old women differently than young ladies, they should all be treated exactly the same. If you don't cat call old men, then don't cat call young women.... if you don't say 'hi' to every man in a business suit - don't say 'hi' to a woman in yoga pants (even if you think they are 2 sizes too small, ah, which they weren't).

It is really pretty simple - don't treat anyone differently based on how they look, or whether or not you want to get into their pants.

varmint 11-12-2014 03:14 PM

Wait, foxpaws suddenly cares about sexual harassment again? WTF?

Why on earth does that make sense. I was labouring under the belief that in a free country I was able to say what I want to whoever I want for whatever reason I want, limited only to outright acts of violence, intimidation or slander.

I speak to strangers of all kinds in all circumstances, some of which are just because I "feel" like it. If it offends them, they have the option of just not responding and moving on....

Sorry, but this myth that men are somehow supposed to ignore how women look or how they dress is just plain ridiculous and pandering to this foolish idea that somehow, we are all equal when we most definitely and plainly have different skills, talents, beliefs, appearances and preferred styles of dress. In no wise are we "equal".

What we are entitled to is equal treatment under the law, we are not entitled to be treated the same regardless of our essential differences.

And yeah, I am a misogynist bigot, horrible person, evildoer, one of those nasty Calvinists....ought to be shot on sight.

The only women who honestly would like this to be the case are the plain women.

The fact that you mistake her blue jeans for yoga pants tells me they are definitely 2 sizes too small.

Hydrocket 11-12-2014 05:19 PM

Because women would NEVER stare at a man, right? It's just men that do this!

Let us turn to the wisdom of Lenny Bruce:

“Every guy is the same—you can idolize your wife, just be crazy about her, be on the way home from work, have a head-on collision with a Greyhound bus, in a disaster area. Forty people laying dead on the highway—not even in the hospital, in the ambulance on the way to the hospital—the guy makes a play for the nurse.”

FEMALE: “How could you do that thing at a time like that?”

MALE: “I got horny.”

“What?”

“I got hot”

“How could you be hot when your foot was cut off? People all around you are dead and bleeding to death!”

“I dunno”

“He’s an animal! He got hot with his foot cut off!”

“I guess I’m an animal. I dunno.”
