Polaris Slingshot, 4 cylinder, 3 wheeler

20" tire in the rear.

gobs of power to weight ratio. Seems they've done a bunch of tuning to the chassis and suspension to chirp the tires in the first three gears.

Love it or hate it Batmobile Body Styling. I could dig a grey one.

Here's A very good fairly balanced opinioned technical write up on them. I believe they're supposed to be on showroom floor around Thanksgiving, so 2 week out......

Real world bugs will have to be ironed out, but a 2nd or 3rd year Slingshot would be stellar.

but really, focus on the numbers here, great engineering, hope they pull it off.

I see it as being what sports cars can no longer be with the safety nannies piling on the pounds for our own protection.

Small, light, fun, and affordable.

Knowing Polaris started out in the production of snowmobiles, the road going Slingshot reminds me of this old Bolens.

They also made the 'Star Car' way back when. I've only seen one in a collectors barn. Apparently the insurance companies became unglued and the factory ordered dealers to return them and most were scrapped. Rare find today.

I forget the details but might have been a JLO or Fuji Industries single cyl. two smoke with a variable drive, torque converter (similar to a sled).

Polaris appears to have completely given up on styling and contracted 10 year olds with legos.

Who would've thought that Polaris would've been polari-zing.

I'm into it - bigtime. It's not a MC, but it gets away without mandated safety items because the fed thinks it's a motorcycle. If I were buying a play car for $20-50k, I couldn't ignore it. 3/4 of an Ariel Atom for 1/4 the price.

This I want! I can't imagine this would be too difficult to build. Anyone know if there is something like this in a kit car format?

The Morgan has way more cool factor. The Polaris looks like it's trying too hard. Based on the reliability (or lack thereof) that my in-laws' Razor and kids Razor has had, I don't think I'd trust it more than a block from my house.

It's got an ecotec motor. Biggest reliability question I would have is the final (belt) drive.

While no doubt fun to drive, it looks like the kind of toy that would quickly lose it's novelty.
For the same price, or perhaps a little more, you can get a decent Elise and not have to wear a helmet.

Their kids Razor lunched the motor after 5 hrs. Apparently an intake design issue that caused it to suck in dirt, namely because they put it at ground level. They broke multiple rear control arms, enough that they got tired of replacing them and just had a local welder fab new ones. Lots of other similar QC issues, they are great when they work but very poorly made.

having owned several Polaris ATV quads, I will have to say the wiring looms and connectors, and cable routing, and general switch feel, has more a utilitarian feel.

No it's not a refined champagne glass of opulence.

But heck you can hose out the interior for Christ sake.......put a sand paddle tire on it and take it to the dunes..........wow that's an idea!

I used to ride a (Polaris) Victory V92C. Miss that damned bike like I never thought possible.
