My new Twin R/C helicopters
My new twin FX071 birds.
http://static.rcgroups.net/forums/attachments/5/2/9/7/6/4/a7276715-119-071%20twinboom3.jpg tuned and tweeked. hot glued lead weights in canopy(s), 912 canopy of the yellow birds' weighs 34 grams, and is about .3" longer than the stock red other one, which is 44 grams with lead and the LCD mounted. CF boom about 1/4" longer. Custom Carved Heli-Heaps' Carbon Fiber boom brace. Turned out nice. PCB screw and other vibration zip-tie mods to board. Got heat sinks on the main and tail rotor motors now. On-board Battery Meter, I hope these CF booms hold up, the thin wall stock alum ones were short lived. no fast forward flight yet, but I've flown both indoors with the new CF boom brace and have them manually trimmed and ready to play outdoors. Insane fun for $75. full metal frames, twin servo blade head, 6 axis stability, not cheap Radio Shack / walmart crap, yet only $70 through Banggood and the slow boat from china. FX071C 2.4G 4CH 6-Axis Gyro Flybarless RC Helicopter - US$74.99

If you really like these things I think it is worthwhile to upgrade out of the toy domain a bit. Not ragging on toys, I love toys.
However if you have dreams of piloting a heli in FFF or scale flight, or even crazy 3d stuff, it would be worthwhile to start down the hobby grade path imho. Example: Blade srx 200 RTF and a simulator. You would be in for 350$ but you would have a lot less equipment heatache and a better/quicker learning experience IMHO. Im building up a JR forza 450 currently and have been into helis, planes, cars for 25+ years.

the metal frame is a work of art for the price point.
$75 bucks. I don't want full 3D and a $700-1000 brushless motor bird in the air. I like cheap crashes! I added two blue anodized heat sinks to the tail rotor and main motor...........main rotor motor has been measured at 24,000 rpm with a tach......yes the motors get warm. the new Li-Po batteries are amazing. 8-10 minute flights. ![]() ![]()

I got my 450 in the air for under $400 not including the radio (use it for all my helis and planes) My 600 was a bit more

Why add weight? Shift the battery forward. Light=more flight time and less crash damage.

Picked up a small gyro stabilized copter from Costco. Love this thing! Only cost me like $30. Its indoor use only, but thats fine. I've had a blast with this thing.

The Syma $25 quad copter was my cocaine fix as I went through 6 of them.......and lots of thrashing......but what-ever you get, be sure you can get parts and support. otherwise it's a disposable radio shack toy. the rest is pricepoint and expectations........I don't like to lose expensive toys. cheap ones, yeah thrash on them.
