This is one major reason why I don't go to big concerts any more: People talking and carrying on at shows like they're the only ones there. If I'm paying good money to see a band, I want to hear the music. I don't care to be listening to to someone behind me practicaly shouting to their companions all night to be heard over the music.

With sky-high ticket prices, outrageous service charges, obnoxious drunks, and people constantly playing with their phones, the whole concert experience has definitely gone down hill for me.

This.

It's taken the joy out of some movies as well. People are so addicted to their devices... What really astonished me was going to the Motion Picture Academy theater for screenings and having the old farts carry on conversations at full volume during the films. 1. they're in the business and know the labor that went in to making the film, and 2. they're old enough to remember when common courtesy was... common

suppose to go see fleetwood mac in december for my wifes birthday. she may be going with someone else due to an issue that has come up, not about her.

saw billy joel with elton john. someone gave us 4 $800 tickets. i liked elton better than billy, even though i play some of billy J's songs.

I remember going to concerts in the late 90's and paying $15-$25 per ticket with no service charges. By the early 2000's, the same bands were charging $75-$125 a ticket and the service charges were around $10.

I haven't been to a concert since 2004 and have no plans on seeing any, no matter how much I like the band. I don't know why Ticketmaster (okay, I know exactly why) isn't broken up like the trust it is.

Tom Petty was great at Phillips in Atlanta. Bruce was great there too. Although on one occasion the sound was not the best. That said much rather to to smaller venue. Going to see Hard Working Americans in a small venu - old theatre. And Al Stewart in small acoustic club. Do love the smaller venues

Loudest - def Arctic Monkeys at the Palladium. Took my daughter and her girlfriend - they were 15 - about 5 years ago. My ears hurt even in the men's room.

BITD - X at the Fox Theater in Pomona. I made the mistake of getting in early and close. Only after they went on did I realize I was standing right in front of Billy Zoom's stack!

Will be seeing Fleetwood Mac at the Forum in December. First time back at that venue in (literally) decades!

TM rose to the occasion. The money in music today is live performance. CD sales are plummeting. LPs are a tiny fraction & the margins on D/L music are slim. That’s why everybody hits the road – even the grandparent bands from the 60s & 70s. Their voices may be gone but their bank accounts need a recharge so it’s on the road again. Ticketmaster was there with the right organization & the right contracts at the right time to take advantage. It doesn't suck to be a near-monopoly.

Wing it and usually end up scoring scalp or gate tix dirt cheap. Also, it used to be Amex offered members more for the seats. I recall showing up with four friends without reservations to a U2 concert. First class all the way. At the ticket gate ,they offered choice of seating. Some crazy discount for all four and we ended up a few rows from the stage. Same scenario for other venues. Its all bs when they tell you its all sold out.

Also, for the geriatric, can always see the old greats for little cost at county fairs, big city taverns...lol.

Loudest- probably Van Halen or Rush.
Sure regret not catching the ear-bleeding Who back in the day.

Before the cellphone-cam and days of texting, they still had hooligans. Went to a Pearl Jam show and the bloody body surfing was ANNOYING. Spazzed out jerks kicking others in the head and not knowing what other boneheads are coming up behind you. However I do recall a bud of mine catching one idiot and then dropping him to the concrete. Things were a bit more orderly for the remainder of that show.
