CBC radio versus 50 shades of Jian Ghomeshi

Wow, a Canadian sex scandal, who would ever have thunk it. . He was a great host for CBC morning show. IMO

Most Americans probably don't know him, but very popular on CBC. (Managed to keep his cool with Billy Bob Thornton interview) CBC's loss IMO

I actually absolutely loathe the man, can't stand even one sentence out of his mouth, so it pains me greatly to say that he has a legitimate case in that his personal preferences should not be grounds for dismissal.

If I would have been CBC I would have suggested he take 6 months off to reconcile/deal with the public issue and legal issues that are being raised so that it does not distract from his ability to do work nor risk bringing the name of CBC into legal arena....but come back when it is cleared up and continue as before.

But, and I cannot state this with enough vigour, the world would be a better place without the likes of Ghomeshi in the media....

Ghian does not have the talents of Bill Clinton to survive his sexual transgressions. Turning around and suing the CBC will not solve his problems. He thinks he is right and everybody else is wrong. Very sad situation. He lost his father recently but that type of behaviour is not acceptable.

other than you I didn't see anything political in this thread, I never heard of the creep until I looked him up. If you want to stand by him tell me, what are his attributes, according to this, he doesn't have any.

"Over the past few months the Star has approached Ghomeshi with allegations from three young women, all about 20 years his junior, who say he was physically violent to them without their consent during sexual encounters or in the lead-up to sexual encounters. Ghomeshi, through his lawyer, has said he “does not engage in non-consensual role play or sex and any suggestion of the contrary is defamatory.”


In his Facebook posting Sunday evening, Ghomeshi wrote in an emotional statement that he has “done nothing wrong.” He said it is not unusual for him to engage in “adventurous forms of sex that included role-play, dominance and submission.” However, he said it has always been consensual.


Ghomeshi’s statement said that he has been open with the CBC about the allegations. He said the CBC’s decision to fire him came after he voluntarily showed evidence late last week that everything he has done was consensual. Ghomeshi blames a woman he describes as an ex-girlfriend for spreading lies about him and orchestrating a campaign with other women to “smear” him.


The three women interviewed by the Star allege that Ghomeshi physically attacked them on dates without consent. They allege he struck them with a closed fist or open hand; bit them; choked them until they almost passed out; covered their nose and mouth so that they had difficulty breathing; and that they were verbally abused during and after sex."

Yeah, the only issue here is whether or not everything was consensual. I know of the guy but wouldn't recognize him if he walked past me. If the activities are consensual then the CBC has overstepped its boundaries. If otherwise this guy might find himself in more trouble than just being unemployed.

Well, now many women are coming forward with stories about unwanted rough sex, and other creepy behavior with this guy. I had said in an earlier post that I liked his show "Q" but I wasn't aware what a freak this guy is. You guys were right, I was wrong about him.

At least eight women, so far, and one fellow employee, who sites inappropriate behavior. This with the fellow employee will be his downfall, I think.

Pervert, yes. I don't believe he has been accused of rape.

He will have a 'morals' clause in his contract, I suspect he isn't going to get a lot of money out of the CBC.

An argument of 'consensual' sex falls flat, as you legally cannot give consent to be assaulted in Canada.

He certainly appears to have treaded the line between rape and consensual sex very finely, and taking it up with potential employees and others at the CBC is an automatic termination in Canada unless the relationship is entirely kosher from both sides....which the ladies in question now allege it is not.

Many, many men in business have lost their jobs over far less than this....when it was just what he did in the privacy of his own home I was OK, when he brought it into the work place or within his circle of business associates, well...if proven...could not happen to a nicer guy.

My personal hope is that his next job is doing weather reports for the early morning show in Tuktoyaktuk.

As we find out a little more about this guy, it certainly appears that the "keep the government out of the bedroom" statement was a preemptive strike at getting the media on his side.
Also using the BS&M in the statement, it appears as though he was trying to use shame to keep other women (victims) from coming forward.
Even "Lucy" from Trailer Park Boys is listed as one of those that has had a problem with this guy.
