Very different twist to the story between the two articles....

Mine states that the wife was on the phone with 911 with a gun to her head for 19 minutes. You don't hallucinate from pot for 19 minutes.

I included this in my post above, but:

Finstone, the detectives are alluding to the marital issues, insurance, financial woes. There are quotes from the detective in my article. Yours does not include anything about those issues.

The court may not have made a ruling on the case as of yet, but the evidence that has been entered so far, points to motives other than pot, though it may have contributed.

I do agree that small amounts of edibles can be felt, though typically, one feels more of a whole body high from ingesting pot via edibles and it's usually a lot more subdued. It's the smoking that typically makes people paranoid. Yes, I know about the 911 call from a few years back of the cop that called 911 saying he and his wife made pot brownies and thought they were going to die.

I will add this gem regarding your views on O.D.ing on pot. I "did", according to your views, a few times back in HS, as the Friday night toker. I have a high tolerance for pain and medications. While the details are "cloudy" after 20+ years, what I remember, was that I kept smoking bowls after my friends stopped for a rest. My recollection tells me that I would start laughing, so hard, that I could not breathe. I remember gasping for air, as if I had muscle spasms. I would have to get out of the room and walk circles around my friends pool. Took a few minutes - or so it felt - but things would settle down and the breathing became normal. It was almost as if I had the hiccups and laughing at the same time.

Regarding the kid who died from the swan dive, I read the verdict. Edibles are "new" as you'd phrase it. Back in collage, I remember a apt mate that was making pot infused butter. Good stuff on toast, but the THC content wasn't as concentrated, he did it from the left over leaves/stems after harvest. Today, it is more potent. You would be flat on your back with today's edibles, Fint. :D Tis not like making pot infused butter pre 70's.

In general, crimes committed by folks who are under the influence of anything...tend to be things they would like to do if their inhibitions were a little less restrictive...think beer goggles...or even ecstasy...or cocaine). That doesn't mean that the drug was not contributory. In fact, just the opposite. If you believe that buying drugs as an elaborate ruse to kill one's wife in front of your children...there are much easier ways that are much more likely to allow one to collect insurance.

That is why I will wait for the verdict.

I am against legalization.

Police: Both Drivers In Double Fatal Crash Were High

LONGMONT, Colo. (CBS4) – Toxicology tests show the driver responsible for a double fatal crash in Longmont in September was high on pot.

The accident took place on Sept. 23 near the intersection of Gay Street and 17th Avenue. It killed Lisa Garcia, 28, of Longmont, and Therese Woodworth, 49, of Dacono.

Longmont police said the SUV Garcia was driving swerved across several lanes of traffic and hit the pickup truck Woodworth was driving.

Tests showed above-the-limit levels of marijuana in the systems of both women.

“Unfortunately, both drivers had more than 5 ng/mL of THC in their systems which, according to Colorado Revised Statutes 42-4-1301(6)(a)(IV), gives rise to a permissible inference that they were under the influence of one or more drugs,” Longmont police spokesman Cmdr. Jeff Satur wrote in a prepared statement.

Police said Woodworth’s consumption, while above the limit, wasn’t “a causal factor in the collision.”

They said Garcia, however, had also consumed alcohol and possibly other drugs, and that she was responsible for the crash.

Garcia leaves behind two 3 year old twins.

Driving while high is illegal in Colorado.

Ignorance is bliss, but I'd rather be miserable than be a happy mush-head who hasn't a clue about what's going on around him.

Don't we already have enough stupid people?
