9% of the genome did not match the reference genome. Probably due to degradation or defects that resulted in the abnormalities.

If tabs were here, he would say Aliens.

At one of my previous jobs I processed film. Back in the olden days when to take a picture required film.

One of the local hospitals had the creepiest of program (in my mind.) I cannot even begin to fathom the feelings of a woman or couple that has lost a baby due to miscarriage. I do understand there is real emotion and pain involved with the loss and I really do sympathize for their loss.

Back to my point. That hospital had a program that dealt with the pain and loss. They would take photographs of the fetus and place it in a tiny little casket. They would have a full funeral service for the fetus. The pictures of the fetus in the casket were for the parents. I sure hope the parents never saw the medical photos of the fetus next to a ruler documenting the fetus. I am no medical professional but it was evident mother nature had said NO on a fetus and caused the mother to miscarry. There were some real freaky babies. No aliens just mother nature correcting a mistake.

They did their best to make the fetus look normal in a tiny casket.

I had a sign I would put up on my door to warn other employees to stay away when I had the disturbing photos out on the table for production and sorting. More than one employee ran out crying when she ignored the sign.

So we all possess 99.99% of the same human DNA. That .01% difference is what makes us different. Genetic analysis can show all of the earthly places we came from, but in some people (like my wife) there are a some unknown (2.1% in her case) origins. Never rule out the plausible without ironclad facts. Sources of our ancestry could have come from anywhere in the universe.

Glen, that sounds really creepy! Not the deformity but the fact that such a practice took place. I can't say I would want to have such a funeral. Did it provide 'closure'?

Ok I'll play Devils advocate. They're conclusively calling it human with a ~9% deviation in genetic material. How much deviation is there between a brilliant midget and a severely retarded 7ft tall individual? I'm thinking it's much less than 9%.
Isn't it possible that our Alien overlords "crafted us in their own image" with just a few minor deviations? Seems to me that concept is already around with different titles.

To those who speculate alien origins, there is an important sentence in the article provided by the second link. According to the DNA test results, "The DNA was modern, abundant, and high quality," he says, indicating that the specimen is probably a few decades old" (emphasis mine.)

Now, this doesn't eliminate the possibility that the human race may have been "planted" by extraterrestrials, but this particular specimen provides no more conclusive evidence of alien intervention than any other currently living human being, all of whom have some unidentified genetic tracers.

Seems like they have been finding these things since at least the 1930's.

Just the other day I was flipping through “Search for the Shrunken Heads”, a particularly fun book that chronicles some of Robert Ripley’s 1930′s adventures around the world, when I noticed a photograph of Ripley holding a particularly familiar tiny humanoid. According to the intrepid adventurer’s notes, the oddity turned out to be an unfortunate soul who was chosen for a full-body “reduction” rather than just a shrinking of the head.

Interestingly enough, Robert Ripley found the shrunken body in Peru and named it “Atta-Boy”, after the nearby Atacama Desert.. the same desert where Dr. Steven Greer would eventually find the humanoid body in Sirius. Hardly a coincidence worth ignoring.

It is not nearly 7%. Way less percentage than that.

Chimps and Bonobos share 99% of the genetics as humans.

You share 18% of the genetics as bakers yeast.

I know a lot of people who were swimming in the shallow end of the gene pool, but no aliens to date.

That's a cute story....but BS.

The head shrinking process involves removal of the skull. The skeleton is still present in this specimen.
