What describing car parts sounds like to your wife.

Which is why I don't talk to her about car parts...

I'm lucky with my wife and parts buying. When we first got married, I needed something for the 944--I think it was the DME relay. Told her the car wouldn't start, needed a new DME and it would cost about X dollars (don't remember--50ish, maybe?). Her response was, "I've got no clue what you're talking about, but if you need it, OK."

Pretty funny.

Back in the days when the Commodore 64 was at it peak in popularity I was at a buddies house discussing computers. There were lots of numbers and acronyms thrown around. My friend's wife was in the kitchen listening to our conversation. She turned around and accused us of talking in code so she would not know what we were talking about and how much it was going to cost.

We really were just talking about the hardware and a new program.

similar to when a color is mentioned or a type of shoe. I have never heard so many names for just the color red. That's why I don't talk about that type of tuff anymore.

I think our IT guys use the same language at work when they don't want to do something.

Thuy accuses me of that... I assume she has a basic knowledge from hanging around here. Some stuff I try to simplify and she gets it, so I don't simplify and she doesn't. It's a damn mine field!

Heck, my wife has bought car parts for me for birthday and Christmas surprises. Now when talking about computer stuff or airplanes she says it is a language she wont ever understand.
