Addressing a Christmas Card Help

My wife and I would like to send a Christmas card to her new boss and his wife with whom we have attended a few social events with, been to their home and really hit it off with.

He goes by his name, she who is a doctor goes by her maiden name.

So, what is the proper etiquette in addresssing a Christmas card to them. I opt to put both their names on the card.

The proper way to address this envelope (woman is a doctor and man is not - last name not shared) would be the women's name/title first and the man's name/title next;

so - example: Dr. Jane Thompson and Mr. John Smith.

I have been increasingly aware lately that there are more men that put their wives names first as in for example ann and john smith. I don't know why but I am sure there are some benefits....

I think per Emily Post or whatever her name is/was - you'd be wrong.
