Those clips are for the body colored painted seam covers . |
IYSS. I’ve only ever seen chrome. Either way it’s for trim.

No green self etching paint on the body pieces? I guess the grey primer filler is also self etching.
They do nice work, they have patience. |
That pearl detail was genius. I’d love to see it all in the sunlight. As with everything, Nik went mental with the paint.

Watched the short series on the tarmac racer and enjoyed it.
Was underwhelmed by the color they picked for the Mini and especially the nearly invisible special paint. Oh well.... |
Agreed, that paint ghost thing is so much effort done for the little effect, it just doesn't seem worth it.
And mentionend it before, the obvious thing I hate on mini's is that outside panel seam.. they have on the A pillar.. Now if they would have cleaned/shaved that off, it would make the car so much nicer and maybe even netted a one mph top end speed due to lower CX http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1612033476.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1612033476.jpg With all their welding and fabrication skills, surely they could have managed that? Especially the front ones irk me on a Mini.. it looks cheap it's been done before http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1612033791.jpg |

I love the paint and would like to see it in person if I ever get back to Shropshire. Best Les |
Sorry guys. I don't understand the negative comments about the paint details.
In a world of Ricers I find "subtle" refreshing and classy. Quote:

The external body seems are one of the things that makes a Mini a "Mini". And I'm sure Alec Issigonis never thought too much about aero when he designed the little brick. Note how they installed the clips before the top coats in the vid. I love details like that. BTW I've never owned one, I've always gravitated towards Italian or German cars. British cars have never done it for me. A friend of mine who has always been a British car nut is "happy" if he gets more than 80,000km from a classic Jag before the top end needs rebuilding. I've never understood that kind of thinking. My somewhat complete car list... (My many VW's are not included because they were either appliance or track cars)

Lessee all these colors to choose from ...... let's go with vanilla ;)

I REALLY wanted to see BRG, not milk colored white.

They are 15-20 grand around here and quite frankly there's nothing Porsche oldtimers out there that can tickle me fancy for that kind of budget .. 944's aren't going to do much for me when I have the Cayman. same for 914's , just seem overpriced for what they are compared to the Cayman. Forget 911's and well i already have the 250 horses Cayman, so for fast driving, i'm covered. So the Fulvia.. it's soooo elegant..And that V4 sounds so good The outside seams on a Mini is just a cheap construction side effect to me.. I can't stand the look of it :D Also hate the dashboards, I could never own that the Fulvia is the complete opposite. |
