That was f'ing great!!!
The only thing I loved more than formation flying was formation flying on NVGs!

I was hoping for a 747 formation. I always thought it looked ungainly on the ground. Then I was in a holding pattern over Heathrow and I looked out the window and there was another 747 flying next to us. It was beautiful!

Cool but in my mind the only thing called a Jumbo Jet is a Boeing 747.

Nice! I liked the breakaways. There was that pesky Fernando Alonso, again.
747s are big, but A380s are HUGE!

Once upon a time, Fairchild AFB near Spokane would host an annual airshow. They used to run some B-52 drills and formations (using the thrust of the lead jet to spin up the fans of the following jet, scramble take-offs, low-level formations, lots of high-bank turns) that were very impressive.

That was cool. I miss my formation days. There are unique challenges doing that with large aircraft. That was a very expensive project. I wonder what Airbus gets out of it?

Better press than if they showed how to stall one of their rigs inio a flat spin....but less topical.

Probably never happened. Just the result of some 15-year-old with Photoshop and too much time on his hands.

It still amazes me that something that big and heavy can fly......too cool.

Well, as a dyed in the wool Boeing guy, I only have one thing to say:
Well done, gentlemen.

When the Air Force c-141 pilots flew like that we called them frustrated fighter pilots.
![]() Risky just for the wake turbulence off the heavy jet wing tip vortices. I expect any turbulence edits were deleted. ![]() fwiw the FAA requires 4 miles in trail for wake turbulence between 2 heavy jets. couple of old turbulence videos. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WXjbVLgK-fU http://youtu.be/s6K1ArSyiuI |

I think wake turbulance is more a factor at landing speeds. At 250kts it feels like a good bump. Also, they didnt show them doing any crossing maneuvers.
