Marchand is an amazing hockey player.
work ethic? extraordinaire. |
Still a goon. Not that there is anything wrong with that.
|
I understand all the haters gonna hate Marchand for his past tricks. That said, I don't think of him as a "goon" in the hockey definition of the word like these guys: Marty McSorley, George Laraque, Donald Brashear, Terry O’Reilly, Dave Schultz, Tiger Williams.
March is a first class pain in the butt agitator. That guy everyone hates but wants him on their team. |
Marchie got away with a slew foot in a dangerous spot on Ekman-Larsen last night. Once again, my "Canuckleheads" P-K couldn't stop the P-P. At this point they would have a rough time of it with the P-P of St. Swythyns Girls.

McKenzie was known for his pesky style of play, |
What a guy!
The NHL announced Monday night that Bruins left winger Brad Marchand has been suspended three games for slew-footing Vancouver Canucks defenseman Oliver Ekman-Larsson during Sunday night's 3-2 B's win at TD Garden. It's the seventh suspension of Marchand's career and the second time he's received one for slew-footing. |

It's almost like we were petitioning the hockey gods for some Bad Brad action...:) |
Well, he was doing good. :(
If it were Crosby there would have been no penalty or suspension. |
Well you can call me biased if you wish but I just saw the supposed slewfoot.
No call on the play, no discussion from the announcers, no complaint from the Canucks, Marchand was off balance. How that can be called a suspension I have no idea OTHER THAN a reputation penalty. Flame away if you wish but that's all I'm gonna say. Maybe he is being judged as strongly as I judge Crosby. |
It didn't look like a clearly intentional slewfoot but as with high sticking the player must maintain control of such things. So, even if unintentional it needed to be addressed. 3 games may be a bit much but Brad is lucky there was no injury or it could have been worse.
Joe may be correct in that his reputation probably resulted in a stiffer punishment but his reputation is his fault. |
Oh no, that was deliberate and BM knew exactly what he was doing. Got under his opponent, stood him up and swept the leg going into the boards.
Just because there was no call (remember the Cindy throwing someone head first into the boards?) and no injury to the opposing player (kind of like the Cindy thing...) that doesn't mean that appropriate punishment should not be given. Was definitely a reaction from the play by play guy in the video I posted. Maybe not on the Bruins feed... |
Uh oh, he's at it again.
Scored 2 in the last three games and scored a hat trick against the HABS tonight :D Here's a pic of his nose when he had a run in with a Capital player the other night http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1642040498.jpg |
That's a good look for Brad! ;)
Talented bugger when he puts his mind to it. |
i'll say it again - amazing work ethic.
let's not forget all the charity work Marchand is involved with. the hate thing? it's getting a bit tiresome. |
Oh well, I knew it was too good to last.
Marchand only scored one goal yesterday. It broke the streak of consecutive games with 2 or more goals. :( He's got 20 goals in 27 games played. Not shabby. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1642360965.jpg |
What are you intimating Joe - the other 2 can't play hockey for $h1t??

Could it be a little "karma" at play here or maybe - you get what you give? Marchie looked to be on the wrong end of a cheap shot & was visibly in a fair bit of pain on the bench. You always hold your breath on those sorts of hits whether they be intentional or the result of incidental contact. Let's hope it's not too serious as at the end of the day - 'he can play a little' & be fun to watch when he concentrates on hockey & leaves out the extraneous crap.
Cheers JB |
No karma, just a bad and cheap hit by Hathaway. He hit him in the numbers. Caps were penalized and the Bruins scored on resulting PP. And they lost because of another bad penalty with less than 2 minutes left in the game.
I think I heard he had a bad shoulder to begin with and this probably aggravated it. I respect Marchand's grittiness - and I also respect Hathaway's. Both work hard but can be pests and do dumb things. I hope Marchand isn't seriously hurt. |

There are agitators (usually 3rd or 4th line) and elite players. How many elite players are also first class agitators? |
I also want to say that when I saw the Wilson hit on Blihd I was immediately outraged that it was dirty (reputation) but after looking at the replay, I have to say it was a first class old school hockey hit and totally legal. I hate it took out a player but thems the chances you take when you play in the big league.

ratty marchand still being a jerk--imagine that! Last night the Pens took care of the goouins--during the game Jarry was setting up to flip a puck into the stands for a fan--so ratboy skates by and knocks the puck off the stick and flips it to an official---pure class then at the end with seco0nds to go and the game decided, he gloves Jarry's face, skates away like the coward he is, comes back behind the net and blatantly whacks the side of Jarry's head with his stick--at which point he was (wisely) pulled from the game
the guy is nothing but a punk and I cannot wait to see Boyle break his face open during their next meeting. |
forward Brad Marchand is no stranger to controversy. His latest antics, though, could result in him serving a suspension for the eighth time in his career.
Marchand received a match penalty – handed out when there is deemed an intent to injure – late in Tuesday night's game against the Pittsburgh Penguins. During a scrum in the final minute, Marchand punched Penguins All-Star goalie Tristan Jarry in the head with his right fist. ANY player or fan would agree this type of behavior is unacceptable --you don't touch the goalie oh--almost forgot Crosby scored his 499th! |

It was bad. But boy...you Pens fans seem almost giddy.
What's the guess? Four games? |
I guessing 6 games and a fine that would be far too low to make a difference to someone that makes 5 mil per season.
That was classic Bad Brad action though! |
Wow!!
We all say we hate guys, but would love them on our team. No way with this train wreck. Embarrassing for Boston and their fans. |
Quote:
can't wait to see him suspended for the EIGHTH time so the entire "yea he provokes opponents but its a good thing because he knocks them off their game, which causes them to make mistakes and take penalties which leads to PPs and goals so it actually helps boston" excuses for his jerk behavior can be shut down. being suspended and not there for your team ...yeah that reealy helps. and can't wait to see Boyle break his face, or send him into the boards. the rat has gotten away with this crap for too long. |
total chicken **** move. wtf?
|
Can't imagine what set Marchie off! Maybe Jarry suggested Bad Brad is no stranger to the passionate embrace of farm animals & other domestic pets. The net of the whole incident is, the sucker punch to the head (we've seen him guilty of that sort of behaviour in the past) was just plain stupid, however, the intentional stick to the head/face definitely crossed the line. This type of action should be worth more than a couple of games, ergo, he won't be of much help to 'da Broons' for the next "however-many-games". Simply put, selfish, stupid, & dangerous are what his actions amount to.
Cheers JB |
Hey Joe, what do ya think of your man Brad after this?
IMO Brad's always been and will always be 10lbs of cheap cow crap in a 2lb bag. What's almost as bad as Brad is the Pens response, I guess we'll have to wait for that. 6 games, out 2 weeks, $450K in lost wages. When does Brad suit up for the next Pens game? That will be fun to watch and it better happen on the opening face off. I've never had any respect for BM, even less now. Finn |

I am sure Sullivan has a response planned--Jarry's presser after the game was pure class. food for thought--ratty has been called in for disciplinary issues more times than tom wilson...tom wilson! that is a big indicator that ratty isn't an "agitator", his is just an "ass" |
Who called six games?
https://www.nhl.com/news/bruins-brad-marchand-gets-six-game-suspension/c-330646894 He deserved more in my opinion but I knew that the NHL would be soft on him. Again. |

Does anyone know what set him off?
