Influencer's car stolen day of big release?
Call me cynical but........ it sure gets media attention for the toy release.

![]() It takes less than sixty seconds to steal a 6th gen Camaro. Thieves just break a window, program a new key fob using an ebay diagnostic tool, and drive away. My understanding is there's several class action lawsuits underway against GM. It's also my understanding that KIA, Hyudai, and others have the same vulnerability. It's just that showing up at a street takeover with a stolen ZL1 is way cooler than an Elantra. PS, I'm glad mine's a 5th gen and needs an actual key.

It's unfortunate if her car was stolen, but not more (actually, probably a lot less) than any other average Joe or Josey.
My initial thought was "who" and "who cares".

I think, I've heard that the Kia and Hyundai are even easier to steal, not requiring programming. Or maybe the programming is a new thing. My understanding (and this may be slightly older versions) was that there was no security on them at all which was why they were stolen for joy rides so frequently. I think the folks that stole them were called "kia boys" or something like that.

The car was being delivered/moved/whatever for some sort of event.

Sure seems like it could be a publicity stunt. Personalities/influencers have done dumber sheiße for clicks.

What does it take to be an “influencer” these days? I can guess at least two things…
