And walks. Kind of surprised, considering all of the particulars. Don't get me wrong, I'm not going to miss her presence here on earth but mildly surprised that homeowner got a walk this time.

Even in California doubt you could convict that guy, even if you did, it is not a winner for the DA, who did not want to look bad, 100% politically motivated. Think about it

Californians are very compassionate, some commenters were lamenting the loss of the womans life. While I don't celebrate the death, I sure wont lament it.

People get charged for shooting burglars under questionable circumstances all the time, including in much more conservative states.

A much harsher set of charges come into play when assaulting a senior citizen. In CA you can earn a night behind bars and legal action for verbal threats of physical harm made to a senior.

the story has a few unsettling details. did he really drag a wounded robber into the house to lure the other robbers back in so he could shoot them too? it's the LA Times, so who knows what the real facts are.
