Any Rituals When the Wife Goes Away?

How many of you have some ritual you do every time the wife is gone for a few days? Golf? Poker? Hookers and blow?

Tank and I always share a steak (with NO VEGETABLES) and a scotch on the couch in sweats and watch action movies. Ol Pavlov here starts slobbering anytime my wife drags out the travel case.

Nice. Does he share any secrets with you after he's had the scotch?

Not as fun as what you had in mind, but... I majorly throw $hit away (kids toys, old docs, pictures, clothes, recycle as appropriate)... She's a bit of a pack rat in some respects, and if it dissappears while she's not looking, no harm no foul...
Oh, and racing on TV 24/7...

I wish I had the balls to do that too. My wife had never thrown away a book or magazine. I could fill a dumpster.

I hire a cleaning crew to come in and straighten the disaster area up. Then I get to live in a clean house until she comes home.

Sometimes I'll have ONE cigar out on the porch.

I head to a great steak house with a good friend of mine and we drink a martini, eat a great dinner then laugh and talk over a glass of wine. Uber home. GREAT night. We do this once a month. We've known each other since we were 12 years old. Our sons are both 24 years old and good friends since they were 5 years old. They are now part of the ritual.

I'm such a lucky man.

A good cigar and a bottle of Port.
Watch bad movies (not those kind you perverts) action movies with lots of guns, car chases, and things blowing up.

This. The local Goodwill Store scores heavily anytime she is out of town.

I usually sacrifice a goat, but I like your steak & scotch with your sidekick plan. I may give the goat a pass and try your idea. Does Pavlov favor single malts or a good blend?

Turn the home theater up and watch cheesy sci-fi movies and eat poorly, as in meat, chips, popcorn, fries, pizza, meat, chips...

In the summer, go for a cruise in the sporty car kid free.

Ah yes, the empty house ritual Usually I start by cleaning up all the kids' stuff - always an odd # of socks... Then it's usually take-out Thai, followed by wine then scotch with a movie where lots of stuff gets blowed up real good, typically rather loud. By 10 or 11 I'm ready for bed.

sounds like we're all pretty similar. i stop by the butcher on the way home from work, pick up a 2" thick bone-in ribeye, drink beer or open a bottle of wine while the steak is on the grill (reverse sear), maybe throw on some potatoes. watch a few action movies, then have some scotch or bourbon. during the day, i'm usually in the garage working on a bike or car.

Depends on your age. A friend of mine summed it well:

"We used to go on these 5 day Motorcycle trips a few times a year to Drink and chase women. Now I go to eat red meat and watch what I want on TV"
