Android question
I have been searching for an answer to this and have been unsuccessful. So, I will pose it to the PPOT brain trust.
On an Android phone, is there a way to get an audible notification for EVERY email that is received in the gmail app? I get a notification when an email arrives in my inbox if everything else in the inbox has been read. But, if there are some recent unread emails, I get no audible notifications when a new message arrives. I am probably missing something obvious. If it matters, I am running Lollipop on a Nexus 5. |

Thanks guys. That works for my gmail account. But, I also have my Exchange account for work using the same app. That option is not there. Must be a shortcoming of the app with Exchange. Sadly, it is the only email app approved by corporate.
Thanks for trying. |

You could install Tasker and put together a "task" that notifies you...
I have half a dozen "tasks" on my phone....I.E. turns on airplane mode at 11:00 pm... turns it off at 5:30 am... alarm wakes me at 5:45 a proximity task.... turns on wifi/4G off when I am home... when I leave home wifi off/4G on... Another task speaks the weather on any interval you set..... A task that announces who is texting or calling...

See if you can set it to push/forward to another email account which has the notification sound

You are using the Gmail app for exchange mail? Why don't they support the standard mail app on the phone with the exchange setup.

Sid, on Lollipop, they killed the old stock email app and combined it with the new gmail app. If you attempt to open the old app you get this message, "Email has moved. The Gmail app now lets you view all of your email accounts."
Tim, I use Tasker for quite a few things. I tried to use it to provide the notifications that I want for work email using Event>UI>Notification>Gmail as the event trigger. But, that doesn't work for the reason that the app does not provide notification of new emails when there are existing unread emails in the inbox (my original problem). I need to dig a little deeper to find the right trigger. |

The website in the link above is correct. You can now only buy the app from the play store. But, there is a link on the site for a free 7-day trial as well. That is the difference.
It is the best money I have spent on an app. $2.99 well spent . |

Try an alternate mail client.
I use Blue Mail on my tablet. Prefer it to the stock gmail app.

I wish. Corporate will only allow the default email app on both Android and iOS. It allows them to limit their scope on the client apps that they need to verify/certify/approve for use.
