NBC has shelled out an awful lot for their mismanagement lately. Gregory walked away with a small fortune. Jamie Horowitz and Ann Curry did too.

Considering, as just one example, the Katrina reporting; how much they savaged Bush (thousands of dead bodies, really Brian?) and how racist they really were when doing it (we were told not to show the bottled water- gangs invading my hotel) the schadenfruede is strong. But it's still a little surprising how vicious they are to each other- they really are eating their own.

The only reasons I ever watched that network were Johnny Carson and Jay Leno.

A lot of the new generation have zero for connection of how their own country came to be.
The Schools do not teach history.
No one is involved, there is reason for them to care as it is all handed to them.

I can comfortably sit here and let those who cannot find any other job, or the very few who care, go fight wars, without ever caring why our how our politicians send them out there.

This creates a disconnect between the intellectualia that write out history, as they never have to see it for themselves.

Anyone notice their chief medical correspondent came back with a makeover after being suspended for thinking she is above the fray.
Perhaps Brian does the same, because we peeps are that stooooooopig!

This Brian Williams fiasco is a symptom of a much larger problem and the bigwigs at NBC may actually have sensed it. I'm wondering if all those schools of 'journalism' imbedded in 'academia' all these years will take notice.

All of a sudden people have choices from whom they consume their news-for now anyway.

I've got a suspicion this Williams thing is far from over. At one point in the interview with Me-Gyn Kelly Brit Hume actually said Brian was a friend of his. He later referred to Brian in the present tense but that slip was enlightening to those of us with tin-foil headgear.

Maybe Brian will sue NBC like Rather did CBS. Typically, weak people who embellish themselves are shocked that their so-called friends bail on 'em. They think that just being a nice guy insulates them from criticism and scrutiny. Apparently NBC knew from the get go that Williams was lying about being shot down by an RPG. If true, that NBC knew all along, Williams may actually try to sue for wrongful discharge because his lying all these years was an acceptable past practice and his employers knew.

Only when the credibility of NBC News' was questioned did it become an issue for them.

Six months suspension usually means "Let's let the runny poo dry out for awhile, THEN fire his ass".

A TV haircut. Nothing more than that.

I never watch NBC for news anyway.

CBS and ABC is much better -- if only because of their anchors.

If Lester Holt comes in that will be it for BW because LH is much more "likeable" IMHO.

Looking at the big picture, I've always felt the mainstream media was responsible for most of the country's discord. This little incident should come as no surprise. News people are parasites....and worse.

Williams is done. He is under the microscope now, and every claim he's ever made will be investigated by someone. I hope he saved some of that bank he was making.
