I think the opening scene where Saul works in Nebraska as a Cinnabon employee,is where he conceals his identity after Breaking Bad saga forces him to go rogue, and the whole show is him remembering his pre Breaking Bad era.I think depending on the success of the show we definitely gonna see the,Mr. White and Pinkman again.
And Gus Frenz!

Gilligan has already said Walt and Jesse will make some cameo's, but very limited.

From (somewhat) successful lawyer to Cinnabon employee. The interesting part of that whole "witness protection" is its not even needed anymore since Walt took just about everyone out.

Some of the breaking bad episodes were the same way. Not sure if you watched that series - but remember the fly episode taking place in the lab?

besides Jesse, he's about the only guy alive the feds could pin anything on. Walt likely had leverage on him as well. Seems pretty likely there's other stuff on him we don't know about. The guy is a lawyer after all.

I agree, but what I liked about those episodes is they did have a point, they weren't just fillers. That fly episode showed the attention to detail and extremes Walt went to. Its one thing to just tell the viewer "Walt makes great crystal meth because he is very detailed" and another to show just how extreme he really was... all IMHO of course.

that being said, I don't need to re-watch that episode again

While we already know Saul from BB they need to establish how he became Saul.

From the first two episodes we gather that he is a generally sympathetic and moral individual who is constantly at risk of being pulled over to the dark side, something he has already done earlier in life.

These are set up episodes, similar to BB, designed to create sympathy and empathy for the character for when he eventually abandons his ethics and the real series starts.

Then they should start establishing that. Visually the show is awesome. It's time for the writers to do this thing.

Well......it's already great.

Not everyone appreciates subtle story telling.

Cue 'Rambo'.......for those folks.

I think they're pushing it a little fast and not giving it time to develop like BB did. the BB writers seemed have the attitude that they didn't care if anyone watched it, they were making the show they wanted to make. Better Call Saul seems more eager to grab an audience.

It would seem the "quickness" would be because we have some familiarity with the base characters at this point. I think they are working off the assumption that most watchers of this show were BB fans, so there is little need for a long drawn out first season to introduce us to the main characters and their individual nuances.

Really enjoyed last night's episode.....feel the Breaking Bad mojo at work here.

More glimpses into Saul's past.

Mike comes out of the booth.

And I just enjoy Saul's dry wit....lol.
