Better Call Saul

Anyone else watching?

I love it.....you can tell it's written by Vince Gilligan from Breaking Bad just by the style and storyline.

Bob Odenkirk was one of my favourite characters in BB.

Can't wait for the second episode later tonight!

Yep!

red-beard 02-09-2015 06:14 PM

I love seeing a lot of the "old" characters

red-beard 02-09-2015 06:29 PM

Best - lawyer - ever

biosurfer1 02-09-2015 06:32 PM

Just watched the first episode... I'm hooked (though I knew I would be). Loved the lead into next week

BTW, it was a most watched series debut on cable ever. The best part of the series is they wont have to write an ending, its already been done!

Absolutely, Mike and Tuco, already. No telling who all will show up. When Walt and Skyler were looking for a business to launder all their cash, didn't Saul show them the Nail / Pedicure joint where Saul has his office ??

72doug2,2S 02-09-2015 07:34 PM

Just finished the second part of the first epsidoe. Love it.

Tinbit 02-09-2015 08:42 PM

Was expecting Mike to be in the show, definitely was not expecting Tuco Salamanca. Giggled like a little girl when he popped out of that front door.

snbush67 02-09-2015 09:32 PM

Leg breaking....ouch.

fintstone 02-10-2015 02:38 AM

Not sure if it is as good as the hype, but pretty good show. Using so many Breaking Bad characters in pretty ingenious. Makes the show a little better than the sum of its parts for the loyal Breaking Bad crowd while still a good show for the uninitiated. Having lived in Albuquerque for many years, it is cool to have shows with familiar surroundings and themes. Most shows are set in places like LA or NY....or some very homogenous suburb.

NY65912 02-10-2015 05:09 AM

Love the character. The show is good, pobably needs a few more episodes to ramp up to it's potential.

pcardude 02-10-2015 06:03 AM

I did not like it. Very very slow.

Baz 02-10-2015 06:33 AM

Anyone know what illness Chuck has?

Loved the desert scene with Tuco....much homage to BB!

biosurfer1 02-10-2015 06:38 AM

Seems like Mike is going to have a big part in the show, but Tuco was maybe just a cameo?

onlycafe 02-10-2015 07:22 AM

so far so good.....
could be my new favorite show!
i am waiting to see huell.

"The only way that car is worth $500 is if there is a $300 hooker sitting in it."
Good line to remember the next time your looking at car to buy. :D

Baz 02-10-2015 08:43 AM

Gilligan always has these crappy cars in his shows....

I just figured out what Chuck's illness is....some kind of aversion to electromagnetic forces. Remember he had typed out that letter to the Scandinavian professor and wanted Jimmy to get it translated into Finnish, saying the professor had been doing research on the electromagnetic effects on Zebra fish.

Yawwwwwnnnnnnn

72doug2,2S 02-10-2015 09:06 AM

Breaking bad is probably the best modern tv drama of all time. I'm glad they're making this.

love911 02-10-2015 09:12 AM

It's very intriguing for sure.
I think the opening scene where Saul works in Nebraska as a Cinnabon employee,is where he conceals his identity after Breaking Bad saga forces him to go rogue, and the whole show is him remembering his pre Breaking Bad era.I think depending on the success of the show we definitely gonna see the,Mr. White and Pinkman again.

Yeah......kinda like the first season of Breaking Bad? ;)

biosurfer1 02-10-2015 10:07 AM

Gilligan has already said Walt and Jesse will make some cameo's, but very limited.

From (somewhat) successful lawyer to Cinnabon employee. The interesting part of that whole "witness protection" is its not even needed anymore since Walt took just about everyone out.

Some of the breaking bad episodes were the same way. Not sure if you watched that series - but remember the fly episode taking place in the lab?

besides Jesse, he's about the only guy alive the feds could pin anything on. Walt likely had leverage on him as well. Seems pretty likely there's other stuff on him we don't know about. The guy is a lawyer after all.

I agree, but what I liked about those episodes is they did have a point, they weren't just fillers. That fly episode showed the attention to detail and extremes Walt went to. Its one thing to just tell the viewer "Walt makes great crystal meth because he is very detailed" and another to show just how extreme he really was... all IMHO of course.

that being said, I don't need to re-watch that episode again:D

AFC-911 02-13-2015 07:38 AM

Meh. I'm skipping this show.

onlycafe 02-13-2015 08:07 AM

ha-ha ...... more for us.

While we already know Saul from BB they need to establish how he became Saul.

From the first two episodes we gather that he is a generally sympathetic and moral individual who is constantly at risk of being pulled over to the dark side, something he has already done earlier in life.

These are set up episodes, similar to BB, designed to create sympathy and empathy for the character for when he eventually abandons his ethics and the real series starts.

pcardude 02-13-2015 08:53 AM

Then they should start establishing that. Visually the show is awesome. It's time for the writers to do this thing.

onlycafe 02-13-2015 05:33 PM

oh ye of little patience...... trust me on this, it's going to be great.

Well......it's already great.

Not everyone appreciates subtle story telling.

Cue 'Rambo'.......for those folks. ;)

onlycafe 02-14-2015 05:32 PM

we know that...... just trying to preach to the fence-sitters.

wdfifteen 02-15-2015 03:18 AM

I think they're pushing it a little fast and not giving it time to develop like BB did. the BB writers seemed have the attitude that they didn't care if anyone watched it, they were making the show they wanted to make. Better Call Saul seems more eager to grab an audience.

It would seem the "quickness" would be because we have some familiarity with the base characters at this point. I think they are working off the assumption that most watchers of this show were BB fans, so there is little need for a long drawn out first season to introduce us to the main characters and their individual nuances.

Yes

Baz 02-17-2015 03:41 AM

Really enjoyed last night's episode.....feel the Breaking Bad mojo at work here.

More glimpses into Saul's past.

Mike comes out of the booth.

And I just enjoy Saul's dry wit....lol.
