Fed Ex sux.

A few weeks ago a 140# mechanical part was picked up by Fed ex in West Virginia, to be delivered to my plant in So Cal.

The first day it make it to Kentucky, sal-ute.

The second day it made it to Springfield Missery.

The third day it made it to al-ba kirky.

4th day, San Berdo. Who hoo, almost here. Just 30 miles away.

5th day, Louie'sville kentucky. Sal-ute again.
They said it got put on the wrong truck. OK.

A week later, it's back in san Berdo, it's close, and it makes it the final leg to Gardena. Ready to deliver!
Nope, back to ken-tucky.
4 more days to get it to Gardena again, but they say I have to pick it up, they won't deliver.
So by now I'm making phone calls and sitting on hold.

Eventually I speak to a guy who speaks what could be called English, sort of.
He tells me they can't delivery because of the strike.

They shipped a large, expensive piece of equipment back and forth across the country several times, because of a RUMOR???!!!

It shows they value/trust their employees. Good on them.

Bad on the employee for misinformation.

I agree, Fed Ex does suck. 3 weeks ago they made a delivery to the house. Got their big delivery truck stuck in my yard, on top of my sewage line. Not just spinning and no traction, I mean the entire truck was sitting on the frame. Took them 8 hours just to get a wrecker out to pull it out, this after 10 phone calls to find the correct Fed Ex terminal. Sent an 18 wheeler wrecker out and it did more damage that what the stuck truck did. Still fighting them on what they are going to do to repair the yard.

This morning as I'm driving out, I get out to open the gate. Look down and there is an Fed Ex envelope on the ground outside of the fence partially covered by the trash can. It had a corporate credit card in it.

Good on them? They hear a rumor and don't bother to lift a finger to confirm? No phone call, no explanation? Just assume it's true and send a package thousands of miles away so they don't have to deal with it?

The last I heard, UPS was union but Fed Ex was categorized as an airline company which is governed by the Railway Labor Act.

Bad on them, if anyone reporting to me acted that irresponsibly they'd be out the gate.

The company I ordered it from handled the shipping.
It cost $16k so it wasn't huge $$ or anything but I needed it to get a machine running. I didn't need it to get shuffled across the country several times.

I like boxing but the knees are so far gone I canardy do it any more.
I enjoy spending time with family and friends, BBQing and hanging by the pool.
I enjoy my work and aggressively growing my savings and investments, and I'm writing a book on how to improve the reliability of processes and machines in heavy manufacturing.
