I was talking to a co-worker about what their plans were and they were the same as me and my wife, nice dinner at home, that's it.
Got me thinking, I don't have one single friend I can think of that actually goes out to dinner. In fact everyone I talk to about it specifically avoids restaurants on V day. Wonder who actually goes out Hallmark Marketing Genius Day?

My wife finally told me I was right this year, that V-day was just a big scam. So I told her next year, we'll all go out to eat (not on V-day, but some day near it), skip the cards and flowers and gifts, and just enjoy family time.

Yep... Surf and turf at home with the fam. No cards flowers or blah blah blah... Better than the goat rodeo. Save romance for days the wife doesn't expect it. Means more to both of us.

We always plan a day's activity together. This VD, we took a hike in the desert to some palms at the had of a canyon. It was about 8 miles RT up a wash that was sandy, like hiking 8 miles through beach sand. It got us hungry for the small, prime rib dinner on the way home.

Worst holiday ever ... To be on business travel.
When eating at home isn't an option. And restaurants aren't either on "amateur night". Hit the kebab shop near my London hotel. Maybe a beer or two from the quickie mkt. pure romance there!

Didn't go anywhere or do anything for Valentines Day, it is a clever marketing scam, and rakes in alot of money for retailers, and flower shops. I guess it's good for the economy that other people are out there blowing money on roses and chocolate.

My wife is from India. When we first got together, I explained how silly I thought Hallmark holidays were. She agreed, and I've been off the hook ever since. I still get her a card just to be a good boy.

Jeez...my daughter loves it and I take the holiday as a reminder to set aside some quality time for her. Not sure I understand the hostility. A box of candy and a card really is that big of a problem? Sheesh.
