Traveling through the mountains with "acquaintances in other vehicles" on a Sunday morning, sounds like a group drive gone wrong. RIP.

Profiling, they never would have said car type if it had been a Chevy Malibu.

Hope no one from here, still; sad situation.

There was a group run yesterday. I saw a Ruf CTR (or a good replica) and an RSR/ST style hotrod, couple 914s, 991 GT3, etc. around 9:15am heading west. Guess this guy was a straggler. Not a good idea to attack any of the roads around here if you aren't familiar with them. Lots of blind turns with steep dropoffs.

Sad. The Los Angeles PCA had their "FUN RUN" yesterday morning From Calabasas to Paradise Cove via Mulholland Highway. We passed several other clubs on their runs. Some areas are very tight and twisty with severe dropoffs.

The police were out in full force making sure the speed limits were observed.

Apparently it was a 993 owner from Rennlist.

Very sad. He was a well liked member on Rennlist.

Like Max said, unless you have EVERY turn memorized, the Malibu area roads are not the place to push a cars limits. Poor distance visibility and surprise decreasing radius turns are everywhere. Also, lawn irrigation water comes down from houses you can't see from the road, and rocks slides.

I don't even go up there anymore because the CHP will pull you over for just sneezing in a sports car….Probably a good thing too.

sad read, the roads down there are a handful empty let alone with random elements tossed into the mix. hope he had a smile till the end at-least.

Looks like he was a member here too. Not too terribly active but same name as on Rennlist.

Sad, too young to go.

Prayers and condolences to family.

Seems he was on 1st Gen Michelin Pilots. Old tires, youth and a technical road. Not a good combination.

Very Sad for sure...........RIP........glad no one was hurt when he crossed the centerline.....

I kinda quit these group drives/rides when I was on one of these on a MC about 5 yrs ago......I met a really nice guy at breakfast that morning......Watched him die just after lunch when he crossed the Centerline and hit an SUV headon.......

Sad the guy has died, but I'm pleased he didn't mow down a bunch of cyclists or run into a resident who was reversing out of his driveway. Speed limits and laws are so everyone can be safe and enjoy their day.

Sad news for sure. I went on a few NYD and Big bear fun runs over the years. One time a guy almost lost it into a bridge in front of me. Way too fast into the turn, off the gas, on the brakes..not good. Got to the point there was too much testosterone and ego involved. Not sure I'd do a group run again. The track is safer. God bless his family.
