*****ty Users on this forum rant

Here's what I should have written:

What’s the deal with the bad seller and buyer behavior on PP? Despite the unhelpful responses below (am including my original rant so no one thinks I’m hiding anything), I do think that it’s a growing problem on PP that isn’t being addressed.

Yes, I was disappointed by both parties in this transaction. Interesting that the for sale thread was closed down relatively quickly.

Here's the rant I originally wrote:
- rant -

Here's the thread for people that are interested. 1983 911 turbo / 1984 911 carrera Misc parts, owners manual, pump, reflectors, damper

What rubs me the wrong way about Josholand in this post is not that he blatantly ignored the rules about posting prices..not like it's hard to figure that out quickly but his lack of integrity toward selling to folks who posted, pm-ed and emailed,

like I did where after learning the condition of the manual I quickly admitted that a $400 shipped offer for both the center reflector and manual was low but since I didn't know the condition of either from his original post I did a best guess offer and he said he would get back to me with an updated price,

or at least giving a 1st right of refusal to those who contacted him first which seems to be the SOP on this board.

What's even worse to me is tdw28210's behavior. I don't know you and perhaps you're a nice person but you didn't act that way and with over 1100 posts you should know better. You obviously don't give a crap about Andoni501 or myself who both were interested in purchasing the parts a full day before you including writing publicly and via email that we would take them (SOP on this board). Yes the seller has the right to sell to whomever he/she wants to but your lack of respect for your fellow users and your lack of integrity sucks as bad as Josholand's does. I will definitely never buy nor sell any parts to you and I hope to never meet you at any PCar or M491 events.

Both of you should be reprimanded and banned from the board IMHO. I've been on this board since 1998 and every year it just seems that more sh$tty people join. It's a shame for what was once a great community of folks helping each other out with a relatively high level of respect for each other despite not knowing one another. Perhaps it's just a reflection of the time we live in or perhaps the moderators should get better at cleaning out people like you.

- end rant -

Wait, so a couple of folks say "I want to buy this" and "I want to buy that" and then another dude comes in and says "I'll buy the whole lot if that makes it easier for you" and you're pissed about who how everything went? I looked at the thread and didn't really see anything that seemed all that crappy to me. The one guy sweetened the pot by buying everything. That makes it much easier for the seller, and he chose to sell. It doesn't appear as if you folks had a binding contract to buy or deposits or anything. It's entirely possible he could have told the other guy no, because the other two spoke first and then you two could have backed out.

This doesn't seem like that big a deal. It seem to me like you should take a few deep breaths, count to 10 and move on.

Maybe next time, give the person a price and push to move things along.

If those pics were there before you expressed interest, which based on the time stamps and lack of edited posts appears to be the case, the condition of the items listed seemed rather apparent.

And tdw28210 did nothing wrong.

That's just my opinion, YMMV.

My post was to a) get it off my chest to the community and b) a reflection of how many bad sellers there are in the PP community. Go do a search on bad sellers in the For Sale forums and see.

Gretch - Don't need to purchase one since I do have a very fulfilling life that includes spending my days helping veterans, a group of people who know the meaning of integrity.

Sammyg2 - I'm not sure $400 is that much of a low ball offer for a center reflector and manual both of unknown condition. It was a fair price given the information on hand at the time.

masraum - Well since the all happened almost 2 weeks ago, I think I did count to 10. What's not included in the post is the multiple emails between the seller and myself regarding my offer. But as I mentioned in my original post, I did email him an offer of $400.

Obviously the post was not welcome here so I'll delete it.

stomachmonkey - good point on the pics. I used them to make my $400 offer. We can agree to disagree on tdw28210.

Doesn't Missoula have the only Hooters in Montana? Sounds like a good idea for a lunch/brew today. That'll make you feel better.

I got burned on a couple of occasions here. Not from any regulars but nevertheless it was enough to cure me of a desire to buy used parts that had any sort of critical function without handling them first.

Also got burned on a tub at ES Reg. That one hurt. I don't fault the seller in that instance. Got disgusted and sat back for a while...now it looks like I'm priced out of the market for good.

Also was left hanging on another tub/roller by a guy who no one here would expect to do such a thing. just flat out quit responding to PM's and emails. I wonder whose hands that car ended up in.

I think what it comes down to, and I am very sorry to say this, is that when goods that are no longer in production are in play you can forget goodwill and kindness. I know it doesn't apply to all but I can tell you in my experience it happens more than is discussed here. If you see something you want do NOT tell anyone else about it just grab a pile of cash and show up. If you can't do that then be ready for disappointment.

Now, having said all of this (it's been on my chest for a long time) I have no idea what your original post was and am not commenting on whether it was reasonable or not.

Motion - The original post obviously wasn't generating a debate about poor seller behavior (Rule #1 in the guidelines http://forums.pelicanparts.com/off-topic-discussions/189620-forum-rules-guidelines.html) so I took it down.

Obviously I should have written it differently rather than a rant...lesson learned. Though I do still think bad seller behavior is a problem on PP.

Just a rant about a bad seller I wrote (IMHO) that went sideways. Obviously it was poorly written, poorly received and the OT didn't want to engage in the debate about seller behavior on PP.

Actually yes we did want to engage.

But nothing in your example thread, IMHO, supported your now 2 week long stew over it.

You hoped everyone would pile and say, yeah, you're right then drag out the pitchforks and torches.

We engaged by saying we don't see as much of a problem as you do in your example so you took your ball and went home.

stomachmonkey - I'm not sure how a YouTube video, advice on purchasing a life or where to eat lunch is engagement. You provided a good point on the pictures and your opinion on the buyers behavior. Two others provided good points as well. The rest weren't adding to the conversation and becoming personal so I took it down. As I said, it should have been written differently. I don't see that as taking my ball and going home

Well said berettafan...it's how I should have worded it in the first place.

What did you write or rant about sorry I missed it? From some of the threads here it sure sound like you were under cut by someone? BEtter luck next time.

I have a friend who's a air cool specialist (not out of his garage, but a legit business). He goes to swap meets all over the country and buy as much as he can. He shows up early at all of the local ones and makes a deal, buys the whole thing then put them on his table and double or triple the prices on some of the rare items. The guys who do not do this for a living are piss at him all the time. I just don't know what's there to be piss about. They can buy out the whole lot too, Just bring money, simple as that.
