CTEK # 7002 battery charger/maintainer
I'm thinking about buying one of these, seems like it has all the features I would want including the ability to save radio/ECU memory while changing the cars battery. Looks like it will work with all the batteries I have for cars , truck, garden tractor , boat and RV and it can do all types of batteries. Anyone using this particular model ? And any of you using the cigarette lighter adapter ? For the Boxster this is a nice feature because the front trunk light will stay on unless it is latched shut which is not good for the power cord. Or I pull the electrical connector off the light but that's a pain. The cigarette lighter adapter seems like an easy way to get around that .

I use it through the cigarette lighter to keep the 996 topped up. It seems to function quite nicely.

I bought three and gave my daughter one. I keep my 911s on them all the time and occasionally us one to bring my other cars up to 100% if it have been very cold or I have not driven them much. I bought extra wired connectors and wired each car for easy connect/disconnect (like these).
For me, the cords are so thin that I can still close the hood and they feed through the hood gap. I also got an 8ft extension for each that allows me even more flexibility. I can plug the box in, inside the garage (where it is dry and wont be stolen) and close the garage door on the cord with a car outside that I am charging. Our host sells these, but I couldn't seem to get the link/photo to post. I use the lighter or clamp fittings on guests cars or those I have not wired.

I have had zero problems with my Harbor Freight model. I think they are $5 when they're on sale.
I have four, they all work nicely.

I have no idea what you're talking about, and there is no photo.
I wouldn't spend money on a cigarette lighter float charger though. If you're going to buy anything, get a smart battery charger. You can get a good Schumacher at Walmart, or go with a pro quality at Napa Auto. They all have float charge mode, can also boost your battery for a start, or charge at 2 amps or 6 amps. And all have automatic shut off. |

Yes. Mine have paid for themselves many times. Mine came with most accessories except for the extra connectors and the extensions I posted earlier (and the cg lighter adapter) and I got free shipping when I ordered them with the charger. I have used one for trickle charge for years. They are so easy to install and use that you never skip doing so just because it is a pain...and it s so simple that my daughter or wife do not hesitate to use one.

If you buy additional connectors, you can choose from 6mm (M6), 8mm (M8) or 10mm (M10) size rings. Might have to shop around:

I use em on the cars and MCs. Have given some to friends as well. I am usually the one they call when there is a problem so I figure it's a time saver for me.

I need to get one for my Porsche. Tying to figure out the solution for my bug though. Where I have it stored, there isn't power available. Thinking a disconnect may be my best bet actually.

Depending on how long you store your bug, you might be better off bringing your battery home with you and leaving it on a trickle charger/maintainer like this one..

This time of year maybe a week or two? Over the summer yes it sits for a few months so I can bring it home.

You are right, the disconnect would probably be the best bet for two week or less.
