Worthy of an Honorary Darwin Award?

Can we give these 400 people an Honorary Darwin Award?

A man has been accused of encouraging hundreds of followers to be castrated in a promise for them to become closer to God. see link.

If these 400 men got castrated, that would be the equivalent of taking themselves out of the gene pool, therefore, I think they merit a Darwin Award.

How is that different from religious types taking a vow of chastity (except in the case of young boys I suppose...)?

I always understood the requirement for a Darwin Award as one having to remove themself from the gene pool by creatively killing themself. As far as I understand it, death is required so these dopes would be ineligible although I take a certain comfort in knowing that their mindless zealotry won't poison future generations other than perhaps by example.

I haven't read the article, bit if some nutter got a bunch of sides to voluntarily castrate themselves, then yes, that should get then an honorable mention at the Darwin awards. They may not be dead, but they can't reproduce.

Along these lines.....I think most of the male newscasters I see on TV were castrated at some point. They act more like women than men. And no I am not watching BBC.

I have to wonder if Mr. Singh - that 'guru' - has had himself castrated. I doubt it.

As we have all seen with church clergy, a vow of chastity means nothing if tempted by the flesh. I think this form of casteration is much more effective.
