I don't know - there are some sketchy folks working at ORNL.

Hijack warning:

I'm scheduled to be in Ka-nox-ville the last week in September.
That'll REALLY make the neighborhood go to you know what. I'm surprised you don't have better security than that.

Gonna be at the Mobius institute testing for my ISO level 3 certification in vibration analysis.
Iffn I pull that off, I'll hold certs from 2 of the 3 accreditied entities (Mobius, vibration institute and the British Institute of Non-Destructive Testing).
Not that that means anything in real life, but I collect plaques and certifcates to hang on the wall.

Hey that's a life.... sort of.

I would be happy to buy you a beer when you're here.

Heck, maybe you can take a look at our mercury pump! We're having some mild vibration issues. Of course, our challenge is that you can't actually get anywhere near the pump. Kind of makes maintenance difficult...

Pretty impressive collection Sammy.
Count me in if mikes buying!
Come on in for a tour while you're here.

I am not the hiring manager for the facility engineer position, but I will be in the interview and get a vote.
My ideal candidate will be a recent bsme grad willing to learn.
So experience not really necessary.
Bsme is required.

Just to add to BK's comments - in reality this is an awesome place to work. We are the most powerful pulsed neutron source in the world. The technology employed here is world-class, one-of-a-kind stuff. We're using a linear accelerator to produce a 1.4 MW proton beam that fires 60 times a second onto a liquid mercury target. We are literally doing things here that no one on Earth has ever done before. I've worked with a lot of smart people over the past 25+ years as an engineer and I have to say that this place is chocked full of the best in the world. No exaggeration.

Would like to keep this bumped up near the top.
Awesome opportunity for a recent BSME grad.
Like Mike said, this is a world class facility.
An opportunity like this for an inexperienced ME doesnt come along every day.
Spread the word!

Sammy, we gotta get you OMA certified! Too late for the Phoenix class in but I'm teaching one in Cleveland in June. You would get a kick out of it and it would be a hoot to have you!

Mike, a good friend of mine is the chair of the Vibration Institute, Georgia Chapter. He might be of some help. PM me if you want me to have him contact you.

Does that qualify you to design vibrators, operate a vibrator or just anal-yze if your wife or SO is properly utilizing her's?

Not really. I don't get involved with money.
Best guess is at least on par with private sector, with MUCH better benefits, and almost unlimited future opportunity.

So the position is UT-Battelle, not DOE?
