Hungary F1

Decent race today, there's never much passing at this track, but a good scrap
between Kimi and Max made it quite interesting. For me anyway.

A big changeup in the championship standings also.

Most boringist race I've seen in a long time. The Ham / Nico drama is getting to be a bit much. I fast-forwarded through the whole race after the 2nd lap.

There is no looking back for Hammy now. He'll be WDC again.

At least this part of my prediction is proving true.

F1 has become about as exciting as NASCAR. Even sounds the same and with rule changes in mid season. Boring. The only thing that makes things interesting is rain, which made Hungary qualifying a bit interesting. In fact, they could just do qualifying and forget the race. Waste of time to watch, at least for me.

I had high hopes. I liked watching Kimi. Seems like he had the time and the car just couldnt find the room. Boring up front though, as usual.

So, anyone else think Hammy was backing Nico into Ricciardo?

yeah it's boring again... I do believe Ham was backing ROS into RIC because that's his specialty. And it's a no-passing track for the most part... Add the new track limit rules (just put friggin grass instead, they'll spin twice and learn), the no-radio rule (Button was right calling it stupid), and VES zigagging left-right-left in front of Kimi and Whiting somehow calling it "one move".... I've decided that if they add the fugly HALO next year, I can finally cut the cord since F1 is all that's keeping me with cable...

The only way this stays interesting is if HAM breaks a leg and is out 3 races. Otherwise it's his to lose, always was. Britney is a fast driver in isolation, but not as good a racer... He starts back, he stays back. HAM starts last and is till a threat to win, in general. I don't like him much, but he's got it - and the other good drivers are in sower cars... Merc should have signed ALO....

Yes, and if not, he well should have. I also think the messages from the pit about going faster or Rosberg will get tires first was smoke for the listeners. At this level, you and your engineers should be on the same page regarding taking advantage where you can. Considering how Ham managed times and tires at will all race, it fits that he would play the slow-down-to-get-Ricciardo-and-Rosberg-together card.

Hambone is a douche of a team mate.

It's almost as likely that he was drawing nico close enough so hambone could clip nico's front wing off, sending him further down in the points.

Absolutely Hamilton was backing up Rosberg. It may be a jerky move, but it's also much more subtle payback than running Rosberg off track.

Yes, he is. The team is paying him to win races and make sure Mercedes collects as many points as possible. Trying to make Nico score less points than 2nd place is a really big FU to his team. The guy is all me, me, me without any respect for sporting behavior.

I think Hamilton is a wonderful ambassador for the sport, a man without reproach on any dimension.

When I grow up I want to be just like him!

As opposed to his whining, slow, douchebag teammate....

as far as "me, me, me," hasn't it always been that way for all F1 drivers? They hardly ever care about being a good sport. They never say "go ahead, you first". They would run down their grammas if they got in the way! That's how they got to the top of the food chain.

IMO

I do think that Hamilton and Rosberg will end up being close friends once they are done with racing. Even Prost and Senna developed a friendship after Prost retired. As time passes, it matters more to be able to talk to someone with the same experiences, and less that you were working against each other.

i hear you, but I'm not sure. Prost and Senna had mutual respect and a crapload of titles each. This is looking like it will end with 4-5 titles for HAM and 0 for ROS. And HAM being the classy guy he is will lord that over him forever ;-) I'm not sure he truly respects ROS, he's had the upper hand in any confrontation so far. Then again I don't feel too sorry for Brittney, he was born rich, is richer still, drives an F1 car and lives in Monaco...
