Sliding sidways while braking for the turns. Rear tire stepping out about a foot from the front tire.

Wow!

Rossi chases Marquez down. Wild lap there. Did you see the 203mph top speed? Crazy pass and contact. A great race.

Rossi just keeps raising the ante. All of it is just great fun to him. I wish more athletes would remember that it's a game and having a good time is just as important fighting the competition.

I'm so, so thrilled to see Rossi upping his game this year. As well as Ducati doing well. Those final laps are more exciting than an entire F1 race.

Ducati hasn't really upped its game, the rules are just working in their favor. Rossi, otoh, suddenly is the guy who passed Stoner in the corkscrew again, or the guy who so famously had one word for the 500cc two stokes in the movie Faster, and it began with with an f and ended with a k and had about fourteen a's in the center.

I really dislike those damp tracks. Just riding around waiting for that one puddle or seam to take your bike out from under you in a instant. Thwack, and then that distinctive scratching sound of bodywork sliding along the pavement.

I'm hoping the Fonger is healed up by the next round.

Did Rossi slide the rear and take out Marquez' front?

What has Yamaha done to make the bike competitive this year?

Epic.

Rossi had the position and was just taking his normal line (they were coming out of a right hander going into a left hander) so straightened up and drifted to the other side of the track. He must have figured that Marquez was either far enough behind or else that Marquez would mirror his moves.

The first touch actually looked more aggressive.

you can subscribe to MotoGP.com.

Old guys are not always slow guys!! Marc made a mistake and paid for it. He may want to consider that sometimes 20 points is good enough. I know that racers want to win but you can't win if you DNF.

I don't think Yamaha has done anything special this year. They gambled on the tire choice for this race, and it paid off. Actually, I'm sure they had good data, so it really wasn't a gamble.

YourGay is nowhere to be seen, so its not the Yamaha. When MM the Magnificent came on the scene, he did stuff nobody else was doing. VR, being the smart old dog that he is, learned and re-taught himself how to ride. Its paying off for him now. I have no idea what it is, but it appears to be related to setting the bike up mid-corner for the exit, where the power is applied most effectively.

I vaguely recall that in Marquez's first season, there was talk that he was riding so aggressively that opponents were sometimes forced to sit up to avoid contact in corners. I wonder if the rest of the field has changed their approach.

MM was often very, very aggressive during his moto2 days, and most of the time things worked out in his favor.
This time it did not.
