Nice! Are you guys required to have front plates in CA?

Yes, we are required to have front plates. I was actually pulled over on Mulholland Hwy for no plates and ticket. My wife's 997S was ticked at in the parking structure at LAX. Better to just put em on and live with it.

Front plate idea.

Our cayenne had no front plate mount unless you drilled in to the bumper.

I found a guy in the midwest somewhere that made a really cool front plate bracket that attached in the tow point in the front bumper.

My memory is fuzzy but i swear he was some kind of tractor part supplier.

He made the same type of bracket for corvettes.

Craig, could you take the tag to a sign shop and have them scan it and make a reflective decal that looks just like it to stick on the bumper. Carry the tag in the just in case.

Bad idea. Potential big trouble for fabricating a license plate. In some places authorities will issue stick on license plates - I have seen them in Germany, usually on exotic cars that would have a hard time mounting their wide plates. It has to be with a special permit there. No home made stickers ...

Reason CA enforces front plate is traffic light cameras as well as bridge toll cameras. LA is particularly bad. Bay Area is largely fine without front plate.

I don't really care anymore. I'm desensitized to the frout plate now. After three tickets, if you can't beat em join em, right?

Rennline makes a nice billet piece for tow hook receivers.

Sounds like a good call on the plate. If they were optional in CA I was going to suggest bumperplugs.

A good 10-15% of cars here seem to have no front plates. Whether or not you get the fix-it ticket seems really arbitrary. I got stopped once in Malibu years ago, and the deputy told me they were preparing for red-light cameras so the powers that be told 'em to start checking plates. No more cameras now.

That time I put the plate on for a day, paid the fine and took it back off...they just really look like sheet on some cars.

If you need someone to drive from Cali to DFW in Feb I'm your guy! Let me know so I can establish my plans.
