My neighbors are about to get into it

I can see it coming. It's going to be an ODD JOB UNO situation without the humor and CAPITAL LETTERS.
A new family moved in to the south. Their property abuts mine and my neighbor (lets call him Jim (Jim Neighbors - see what I did there?)) to the west. The new guy stacked a cord of firewood right on Jim's property line and started throwing cardboard boxes on the line too. Jim likes to keep his place neat, and the grass has grown a foot tall next to the wood pile. I was talking to the new guy and asked him how he was going to trim the grass on Jim's side of the pile. He just sort of shrugged, unconcerned. Later in our conversation I mentioned the wood pile again, trying to hint that he should move it. As we ended the conversation I said, "I hope that wood pile doesn't fall over." No response. New guy is totally clueless.
I'm stocking up on popcorn. This is going to be interesting.

If you do report ala OJU please keep the grammar and spelling as close to currently accepted norms as possible...if you please.

I'd think it would give juan a major headache to try to type like OJU.

Is the wood on his side or Jim's? If it's on his then it shouldn't be anyone else's concern.

I'm all for any excuse to use BABY-POO YELLOW paint as a solution tho... Needed or not!

My neighbor thinks it's fine to store his firewood and his kid's bikes on the property line. I planted cedar trees to hide his mess. End of problem. Someone who acts like that isn't worth appealing to. Camouflage and move on.

Wow. There's really going to be a fight over that?

Glad I don't live there.

I don't see the issue. The guy is clueless and didn't pick up on the subtle hints that most socially aware people would. He's not doing it to ---- off Mr. Neighbors. He just doesn't know any better.

What's wrong with telling him the truth straight up and unvarnished by social convention? Just say that Jim Neighbors likes to keep his yard really neat and that it isn't polite to set the woodpile and grass growing around it that close to Jim's property. It would be a neighborly gesture sure to be appreciated if he pulled his woodpile back a few feet from the property line just to make sure there wasn't any spillover onto Mr. Neighbors' property and he could mow the back side of the wood pile and keep it from creating an eyesore for Mr. Neighbors when he looked out on his property.

I don't think a cord of wood is too much to move easily, but if he does, just have the same conversation and tell him it would be very neighborly of him to trim around the woodpile with a weed whacker to be considerate of what the neighbors have to look at from their side of the property.

This should be in the First World Problem thread.

Maybe invite him around for a BBQ and forget the pile of wood.

If the wood pile is OVER the lot line, as on Jim's lot, then yes, tell him so. But if it is up to, and not infringing on Jim's lot, then no problem. Jim will just have to get his weedwacker out and trim HIS side of the woodpile. Enjoy a cold one while watching this.

Stop giving subtle hints.
Just tell him politely Jim is nog going to approve. and it's important to keep your neighbours friendly.

EDIT: please, please do not start typing as oddjob.
He could have been giving away free money, blow and hookers, and I wouldn't know since I have never ever read any of his posts completely.
His writing makes me want to kick a toddler.

^what MRM said.

Say it straight up.
Add "welcome to the neighborhood, is there anything you need help with now"?

With a brand new home, kids and family, this guy has more important things on his mind right now than a bit of tall grass on the property line.

Did you want to create a friend, or enemy, for the next decade?

I am a slave to social convention, but I'll probably do something along those lines. I'll tell him that I notice that now Jim has to get his weed whacker out to trim along your wood pile. Why don't you do him a solid and do the weed whacking when you do your lawn? Or move the wood pile.

Maybe I'll tell him I have a caps lock key and I know how to use it.

In your defense, kicking toddlers is kind of fun.

I too miss OJU, though I managed to read only about 40% of his diatribes.
