Clarkson (Top Gear) suspended

Just read Clarkson was suspended from Top Gear for a "fracas" with a producer--new episode won't be shown this week.

This sucks--Clarkson is...Clarkson his persona is a big part of the show's appeal I don't think it would be nearly as popular without all (3) hosts and how they work off each other.

Capt. slow is still my favorite though.

Yup, if anyone at the BBC has a brain they will get him back, can the producer if they have to! It may take time, but that show will die without Clarkson.

My wife also....she believes the same way that I do, that the American version sucks, and the English U.K. version is witty and fun.

He is the reason why the American version sucks.
The USA version has zero talent ,Zero personality. I gave it a go a few times.
I no longer ever try.
Those 3 brits fit together and make the show.
Simple.

100% correct. He is the core of that show. Getting rid of Clarkson would be dumber than getting rid of the Stig.

There is a reason they call the talent, talent, and the producers, the, uh, producers. Top Gear without Clarkson is like Road and Track without Peter Egan.

There were moments when my children were young teenagers and we'd all be laughing hysterically during the show.

I think the chemistry between the 3 1/2 of them is what makes the show work. They feed off of each other.

BBC pulled the one clip where Clarkson shows his real love for the 911.

Watch Jeremy Clarkson KILL a 911. :_(

Classic 911s are beloved by all, except for one Jeremy Clarkson. He seems to reserve a special hatred for them, especially the vintage varieties, as he claims they always try to kill him.

What pisses him off even more, though, is that they seem to be made out of granite. Vintage 911s seem to be indestructible. At one point, he even calls it "Brunhilda."

In this famous clip, Clarkson himself, then, tries to destroy this particularly gorgeous red one. He drops a piano on it. Crashes it into a building. Shoots it with a shotgun. Pours acid on it. Kicks it. Hits it. Drops it onto an exploding caravan.

Perhaps the worst part, however, are those hideous sunglasses Clarkson's got on at the end.

I remember that video "killing a 911" and the quote about the windshield... something like "you don't look through it so much as you wear it like a monocular."

I was at a point in my life where I kind of felt the same way about 911's- so I bought a 997S. After about a week of fretting over the non replaceable IMS/scorched cylinders, I got back into a 911, and was soooooooo happy to have my monocular back!!

I love the British top gear. The chemistry is incredible, it appeals to my wife, her sister, etc.. but after watching every episode 3 times over, it is a bit formulaic. Even in the "how to kill the 911" video- they had pulled the engine, so there is a staged element, but I still enjoy it anyway. They really have gotten to the point where only through Jeremy punching out his producer can they top themselves, because, I bet, that WASN'T staged. I wish them the best of luck!

I'll paraphrase the tear-jerker story Clarkson told about the 928 (Why Jeremy Clarkson likes Porsche 928)

Quote:
He explained the reason why the 928 has a special place in his heart. When his Father was on his death bed, he got a call that he needed to get to his Dad’s bedside as soon as possible. At the time he was reviewing the 928 and Porsche gave him a car to drive for a bit. He had a chicken in the oven and thought he should bring to his mum. When he arrived in Sheffield the chicken was still warm and his dad was still alive - he died shortly after. He explained that it was because of the car’s ability to drive so fast for a sustained amount of time that he was able to make it in time to say goodbye.
As a counter-point, he also wrote why he now isn't the biggest fan:
