someone decided to remake "a handmaid's tale" with car chases. still could have pulled a decent movie out of that concept. but they shouldn't have called it Mad Max. he is a virtual extra in his own film. there is only one moment where he has a significant impact on the plot.
the villains are weird but not very scary. they pale in comparison to lord humungous or wez. it's visually spectacular. the car chases and stunts are excellent. worth seeing, but just just a disappointment when compared to what came before. where was the damn blue heeler? |
It's a non-stop action flick set in a crazy, unrealistic, post-apocalyptic world. The players are mostly mutants.
It isn't supposed to be pride and prejudice or war and peace. It was very good at exactly what it was trying to be. |
Lord Humungus circa 2014.

The control box for the Gigahorse. Two 502 CID crate motors connected by a custom straight cut gear drive to an Allison truck transmission.

My wife likes to watch movies in the theater, however, we hardly ever do.
She always says "we should go watch a movie." We never do. She always says "we should go watch a movie." We never do. Question: If we were driving by a theater and impulsively suggested we watch "Fury Road" -would that be cruel? or justified because she technically asked for it? |
Do it.

Not my type of movie, I didn't really care for the origianl Mad Max, I probably won't even rent this on DVD or netflix.

My kids were subjected to the 1978 original last Saturday.
Then, they could see Fury Road. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1433770299.jpg |
I don't know if you're a Conan O'Brien fan or not, but their cold opening last night was the funniest thing I've seen in a long time.

I finally rented it. I loved it.
Miller does not spoon feed plot points like most modern movies. A single establishing shot or a passing mention is sometimes the only explanation you get. It does not get repeated ad nauseum. To address some of the questions in this thread: ***SPOILERS*** Nux has throat cancer. He has named the tumors "Larry" and "Barry." Furiosa was the protector for the wives. She had sympathy for them and hatched a plan to take them with her on her escape. The graffiti in the biosphere quite graphically explains the wives displeasure. Immortan Joe is weak without his skull-masked breathing apparatus. He is much stronger with it. The Citadel, Gas Town, and the Bullet Farm are all part of Immortan Joe's territory. The dwarf is Immortan Joe's oldest son. He is charged with watching Gas Town and the Bullet Farm. The rock fall is a trap set by the bikers. They use it to capture vehicles, and reset it to trap again. |

Just watched it.
Keeping in mind I am a curmudgeon and hate all things "millenial" and "fast and furious" in nature-including pretty much every new movie, everything, you... him... her... even me, myself, and I.... I LOVED IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!WOW!!!! |
I LOVED the first one and was disappointed with this one.
|
Probably the most insane movie I have ever seen. Loved it.
|
I just stumbled upon the movie flipping channels is a hotel room.
I enjoyed it far more than I thought I would. Its pure escapism, fun to watch. I love the vehicles, incredible imagination and execution. I want to see it again on a bigger screen and better audio for a better experience. Going through this topic again will also make me pay more attention to the plot. |
I've seen the movie probably over 20x and still love watching every minute of it. Then again I have always been a HUGE Mad Max fan.
