No experience with JD here, but this bothers me:
https://www.reddit.com/r/todayilearned/comments/5gmc0y/til_john_deere_has_been_using_the_dmca_to_stop/ In a particularly spectacular display of corporate delusion, John Deere—the world’s largest agricultural machinery maker —told the Copyright Office that farmers don’t own their tractors. Because computer code snakes through the DNA of modern tractors, farmers receive “an implied license for the life of the vehicle to operate the vehicle.” |

On that Deere, I would recommend seriously using all manufacture recommended filters, oils, coolants, and write the number of hours on the filters at each change, so that you have a visual record. Check coolant every day of use. I run my Ford for 12 hours on end, so a season can add up to many hundreds of hours of use.
I don't think anyone needs a new tractor, but honestly a fork lift is a blessing. An RTV is a blessing if you have to walk a lot otherwise and a truck is not practical. I use a water trailer to keep dust down, which is a necessity in California. ![]() ![]() |
