DIY wireless home security
Looking for a simple DIY home security solution. The simply safe system looks like a good deal. Has anyone tried this?
Comcast is trying to get me to buy their system but I'd like to get as far away from them as possible.

For $100 I used a motion sensing camera in a vacation home. I get an email with pics whenever someone walks in front of it....

dad911,
What system are you using? Believe it or not, I was concurrently looking at Pelican and searching for a security system and saw this thread while the other page was loading. We just built a 30'X30' shed on our other property (60 miles away) that was completed a week ago today and I am really interested in watching over it remotely (unfortunately, meth-heads are local). My apologies to berettafan as I have no intentions of highjacking this thread - I am just looking for some additional info from the first responder to the thread.

I use one of these Ademco panels - you can get them on Ebay or Amazon. Very easy to self install. You can also get third party alarm monitoring for $10 a month with a search on the internet.

EBay search under Zmoto. For about $250 we got a system for our Eagles Club. Came with 6 cameras and 500 GB hard drive for recording. Can ck camera anytime from smart phone, alerts for motion and Alarm function. Set HD to record all cameras 24/7 and loops back about every 15 days. No monthly fees...

I use a Foscam camera with IR lighting that can be PANNED & TILTED remotely using your smartphone(even works with Blackberry).Very cheap, cost £55 so in the US will be far less.
