What Sort Of People Do This To Dogs

If you are a dog lover, or just an animal lover you best not look.....or maybe you should and get fired up about it. It needs to stop. Some of the animals are burned alive so their insides boil before they die to enhance the flavour!!!!!

Yulin dog-eating festival: China’s dog meat celebration sparks outrage

Something to think about next time you save $5 by buying a Walmart toaster. The best way to force a change in countries that have low moral standards is to not buy their products.

How will that stop them from eating dogs? It seems that less revenue would multiply the problem, not solve it.

I agree, this story might not have even been written without our trade with China. The closer we are and the more we know, the greater chance for change.

I didn't know this was still going on.

I would venture to guess they were eating dogs long before walmart ever existed but I guess we have to blame someone .....

They were eating dogs before there was anything but true stone age people living on this Continent.

I don't approve but they don't need my approval to eat. People eat Gorillas, Dolphins, Tigers or any critter that is possible to eat.

Rhinos are slaughtered for their horns and elephants killed just for their tusks.

I don't approve or support any of that in any form. I don't approve of the Ivory trade but it will continue unfortunately just like the eating of any creature possible to eat.

I dont approve either, but just because WE have decided to call the dog our best friend they dont have to.

Then the Swedes have to stop putting living crayfish into boiling water for the "kräftfest".

There are regions of India where the people have the same revulsion to our eating cows. If you watched a public service announcement sponsored by India activists pleading with us to stop eating cows, would you give up your steaks and hamburgers?

I'm probably second only to Baz when it comes to my devotion to dogs, but we as Westerners have no place to condemn ancient cultures for practices different from our own.

I don't like to see inhumane raising, transport and slaughtering practices and that's where they should make improvements, but I do take offense in westerners judging other cultures for their choice of food.

That article is written in a raging "animal rights" voice. You give those PETA / ALF nut jobs an inch, you soon will be finding yourself eating lentils. Horse slaughter already has been outlawed in most US states for example and hunting is under tremendous pressure from the same group of people. The average Joe reading such propaganda usually is in support, as they start "saving" the cute looking animals first ... Again, the focus needs to be on proper raising and treatment of the animals, not taking them off people's dinner plates.

People gotta eat, but I draw the line at any animal being cooked alive, and that includes invertebrates. This is cruelty.

I don't think some of you actually read the article. I'm not sure but where I'm from the beef I eat is not run over, bashed with a hammer, had its abdomen burnt with a blowtorch while it's tied down and still alive, put through a de-furring machine while still alive or stolen from someones house as a pet.

That's bad but not as bad as recent "FB thing".

Apparently it's really funny to muzzle a dog with a strong rubber band!

We've always eaten animals but they should be slaughtered with the least amount of distress and pain.
But not everyone agrees... Like anything it's a question of what's culturally acceptable.

Ok guys, let's take a step back here ...

I pointed out before that this article reads like PETA propaganda. If you check the picture sources, they are all from the "Humane Society International" which is the HSUS international branch. Read up on these guys ... their main agenda is to fill their coffers with donations from people who think they run animal shelters. Look at sites that judge charities and what they do with their money. HSUS scores extremely low. Their CEO makes record bank for a "non-profit" organization.

This "news site" is a bunch of click bait garbage. This article is not researched - it is a bunch of shock photos and hearsay that whoever published this probably got straight from HSUS/HSI. Some of these dogs were pets? Where is that shown in the images or researched in the article? Have they talked to a single person that lost their dog to a dog snatcher out of their back yard? Where do they show how the dogs are killed inhumanely? Sure, they are choking a cat, but good luck picking that up without a sling. Any animal control officer in the US has a sling too.

Total BS on "being cooked alive for flavor" and "burnt alive". Look at the dog they are searing the hair off. Try that with a live dog. . Same on the cooking. You'd be boiled yourself from the animal going nuts until it perishes. What is happening here is hair removal on dead animals. Of course it is done when the animal is not gutted. Ever slaughtered a hog? Same thing = first it is killed, then the hair comes off and then the process continues. Chicken, duck? Same. Just like a hog or a chicken, dogs are eaten skin on. That's probably what was meant with adding "flavor" - keeping the skin on.

Other "news stories" on the site:
"Rachel Dolezal gets six-figure sex tape offer"
"Tyga’s new song about ‘Kardashian p**sy’ is filthy"
"7 mistakes you’ve made in the last hour"

Ok, I will get off my soap box now. It just pains me how garbage news like this gets gobbled up because it is shocking. And like I said in my earlier post - I am all for treating animals well before and at slaughter and I am sure more can be done in China and most any other place in this world in that respect.

There is nothing wrong with supporting Countries, businesses and organizations who strongly value ethical practices. We do this all the time. If we find out that a certain business behaves in an unethical manner they loose market share. That is why businesses try to be good citizens. Is it being too judgemental that people are selective who we give our money to?

I have no problem with cultural differences but I do draw the line at obvious ethical violations. There are currently no laws in China that effectively protect animals from cruelty. This is one of many ethical and human rights differences that China has with more progressive countries. It is not for us to tell them what to do but we certainly have a choice who we support.

For those who that closer trading ties will lead to change remember that those changes come about as a response to gaining approval from their customers - us.

Retailers like Walmart are exclusively focused on bottom dollar at whatever he cost. A low price leads to quite a bit of Cognitive Dissonance on the part of it's very large market share.
