Note, not classified:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Minuteman_II

Quote:

The Hercules M57 third stage of Minuteman-I and Minuteman-II had thrust termination ports on the sides. These ports, when opened by detonation of shaped charges, reduced the chamber pressure so abruptly that the interior flame was blown out. This allowed a precisely timed termination of thrust for targeting accuracy. The larger Minuteman-III third-stage motor also has thrust termination ports although the final velocity is determined by PSRE.

Sammy, your father is an amazing guy who made significant contributions.
Thanks for sharing. Glad that he pulled through and prayers sent.

Dad has been transfered to a rehab hospital in Surprise Ariz, gonna be there for a week or two and then he goes home. He can walk with a walker, is very coherent as speaks normally although he gets frustrated sometimes when he Cant communicate something. He's come a long way in the last week, thanks to all who have prayed or wished him well.

PS dry heat my butt ;)

Baby steps and positive reinforcement. Make every small moment count.
Ask him what he likes/wants, and give it to him.

Sounds like things are heading in the right direction. Congrats. More time to enjoy each other and deepen your relationship. Precious time for sure.

Just found this thread. Great news on the recovery. Wouldn't we all like more time with our fathers now we're adults? Now more than ever, every day is a gift.

Amen, Techweenie.

Still praying, Sammy.

When you visit.....maybe you could take him for some rides, Sammy.....get him outside and away from the rehab place.

Might be good therapy and give you both something to do that doesn't depend on conversation, per se.

Please give him our regards - he's in our prayers.

Racerbvd 08-09-2015 06:00 PM

Glad he is improving.
