Use it or lose it, and I think he has decided.
Great news!

Very glad things worked out. Spend your time with him now, this is a GIFT.

Bringing back an old thread, dad's recovery from the stroke was truly a miracle.

Sadly, his 5-year fight with Leukemia and lymphoma ended late last month.

I cherish the fact that my brothers and i were given a true gift. The gift of having this incredible man influencing our lives for 57 years.
This was a man who never told a lie that I was aware of, never exaggerated details when telling a story. He never put himself first or wondered what was in it for him.
He was a true man of integrity who valued included honesty, hard work, selflessness.
He measured himself by how well he took care of his responsibilities, duties, and tasks.
From his memoirs:
Quote:

I have strived to live by the following credos:
I believe that 90% of a person's problems are brought on by himself.
I believe that a strong integrity is the most valued personality trait. I believe that the second most important trait is the ability to make and live up to a commitment.
I am convinced that anything can be accomplished if enough time and effort are devoted to the task.
Noe just words, he lived his life that way. But he didn't mention that his entire life was spent doing for others.
He worked for his wife, his kids, his family, but not for himself.
He never had a fancy car, nice clothes, any toys or hobbies. Other than his family.

To mourn his loss would seem greedy, as if that wonderful gift was somehow not enough.
Instead of feeling cheated or having a sense of loss I try to reflect on how lucky and fortunate I and my brothers and family have been and how much we would have lost and missed out on if this man had not been our father.

Beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather passed away Oct. 26.
(family details omitted)

Jerry was born June 17, 1937, in Portales N.M. His early years were spent in Portales and Roswell before moving to Artesia, N.M., where he graduated from high school in 1955. He attended New Mexico State University in Las Cruces, studying mechanical engineering, and while there he interned in the aerospace programs. Also while there Jerry met Katie and after a brief courtship they married. They raised their sons in Utah where he worked as engineering manager at Hercules Powder Company and then in Southern California after he transferred to their plant there. Among his accomplishments are several patents and inventions along with many aerospace-manufacturing processes that have become the standard today.

If you are a father, never forget how important you are in the lives of others.
if you are a son, don't ever forget to tell your parents how much you appreciate their caring and sacrifices.

That is a beautiful tribute, Sam, to a great man.

We had the same father and I'd like to think I am the same son.

Well done.

I'm sorry for your loss. My father passed 13 years ago when I was 33, so I understand.
