He loves those dogs and used to take them to the dog park twice a day rain or shine, his whole social circle is based on that dog park. Yesterday we arraigned to have the nurse wheel him downstairs and we had his dogs waiting for him. He lit up as soon as he saw them. He can't wait to get home to his dogs. Good therapy and incentive. |

Back in 70 my Grandmother suffered a severe stroke when she was 77, she was hospitalized for quite sometime and afterwards came to live with us. She recovered almost fully with the exception of complaining about being a bit dizzy when she walked (probably inner ear?), being a bit weaker and needing the security of having someone around in case something happened again. She lived another 10 years finally passing at 87 of mostly old age.
The dogs will give him a reason to get up as they need him, and will be a support of having their love and friendship to comfort him. |
I'm late to this thread as well.
Good to hear he's on the mend. I'm in the east valley, about 45-55 minutes from Surprise but I work all over the metro area. I'm sure you have plenty of support closer by, but if there's anything I can help with, let me know. Peace and strength, my friend. |

One last post to close this up and say thanks again:
dad has been at home for several weeks now, is driving to the dog park twice a day (mom says he drives as good as he ever did and better than she does)he no longer needs a catheter or walker or anything like that. He moves a little slower and is a little weaker than before, probably because he was a coma for three weeks and in bed for 6 and lost a lot of strength. Other than that it's like it never happened. he went to the neurologist for the last (hopefully) time last week, the doc swore it wasn't the same guy. Nearly a complete recovery from a massive stroke when they originally prediced he wouldn't survive the flight to the hospital. Call it what you want, I call it a miracle and I thank you for helping to make it happen. My mom thanks you too. They've been married a long time and prolly couldn't get along without each other. |
Great news Sammy. :)

simply splendid..
modern medicine is one thing.. but much of what he's done came from within.. once lucid.. he was worried about his Lady, dogs & family... time to focus on getting up & out.. and like you've told us often.. tough goat with a heart of gold.. Rika |
Awesome - the human spirit can be amazing.

I called a little while ago to check up, mom said he was out washing the truck.
I asked how hot it was there and she said oh it's only about 90 today. I won't wash my truck when it's 90 degrees, that's too hot for me! Never understimate the power of PELICANS! |
Excellent, sammy.
We simply supported your good energy. :) |
Power of prayer!
