100 Greatest American films
The missus and I counted around 30-35 that we've seen. I suspect I've seen several when I was younger and my parents were watching them, but if I don't remember the name or the story, I'm not counting them. How many have you seen and what are your thoughts?

Some great American films that didn't make their top 100...
Ben-Hur On The Waterfront The Grapes Of Wrath How Green Was My Valley A Streetcar Named Desire I could probably come up with another twenty or more that should be in the top 100.

Interesting that "McCabe and Mrs Miller" makes the cut, but "MASH" doesn't.
"Fargo" "There Will Be Blood" "No Country For Old Men" "Bad Day At Black Rock" "Once Upon A Time in the West" "Boogie Nights" These would have been some of the films on my top 100. "Back to the Future"? Really? |

I have watched Citizen Kane twice over the years. I thought it sucked both times.
Any list of great movies that excludes Blazing Saddles is simply wrong. That is my opinion and I am sticking to it. I skimmed through the list. Was Rocky on there? That is another good move that should be on any list of the top 100.

I've seen all but about 15 on the list.
Apparently, the only criteria to make the list was that the film was financed by U.S. money and it appealed to the critic on an emotional level--whatever that means--and "importance" doesn't matter.

Ive only seen 27 of those, most of them I enjoyed. Im not sure about the ratings though. I think there is some sort of unwritten rule that to make a cool list you have to put citizen kane at the top.
I was pleasantly surprised to see eternal sunshine of the spotless mind on the list, I love that movie but I know many people don't. Ghost Dog the way of the Samuri is still my all time favorite movie Caddyshack should be on that list as well, near the top

Had to fix that for you. They should have quit making movies after Caddyshack.

Shawshank Redemption?
Casino? Saving Private Ryan? Bull Durham? I'd even put Avatar in there before some of the others.
