I have a set of rear center lock hubs I want to get in nickel or nickel chrome. One is factory with a bit of pitting from use, the other is a repop that is in the gold cad rather than the nickel.

I have home nickel plated before, but given it has to be dimensional inside (splines) and out (bearing fit), the old finish needs to be stripped, and it most likely needs to be baked to deal with hydrogen embrittlement, Id rather pay to have it done right.

Can anyone make a suggestion as to who does this work well? They are small enough so shipping isn't an issue.

I don't - but have had lot's of problems with platers over the years. Biggest issue is with good prep which is very labor intensive, no different than when prepping a car for a nice paint job. Too many platers will just keep adding copper for smoothness - until the part is out of dimension when finished.

I've used these guys during my Corvair restoration with good results, have not seen how things hold up over time, but they have come back w/ no pitting and great finish. From what I understand most good guys put down a copper plating first then chrome over that, this adheres better esp if you are dealing with pot metal, which you probably aren't w/ hubs.
